C43 Turbo Leak

Hi guys. I read a lot of threads from here or fb reporting the issues on turbo leak. This is apparently a common problem. The first sign of this happening is losing horse power, feeling the car being less powerful than used to be. The second phenomenon is the boost reading in turbo gauge. No full boost appears (usually 1/3) and boost is not holding. I notice there are only intermittent readings in my turbo gauge even I floored it. So, is there any turbo leak, before I tell the dealer to fix it?

Could also be a bent turbo fin as well.

Just take it to the dealer. Mine had rust on the exhaust flaps connector and this was the reason for the reduced power

There is a thread on boost leak. It happens from the top of the intercooler. The pipe is usually loose. If you search for it you will find it.

What Munis said is probably the issue.

I had the intercooler to manifold hose fail 3 times before the dealer ended up replacing it for me. Check that connection first.

I think a bent impeller/rotor fin would cause massive vibrations. You could probably hear it.

Luckily I don't sense any abnormal vibration in the engine. Just notice the boost is not holding even in full throttle.

Not necessarily so. I had a bent fin on my Cadillac ATS turbo, and displayed no vibration at all; just lack of power and acceleration.

Same on my M275 TT. Heard some hissing when RPM was reaching 2500 and above. Looked around for some leaks but couldn't find any. Ordered the T-bolt clamps and while installing those Y connectors from IC to plenum separated completely. Changed all, Y -pice plus all three clamps plus the 4 T-bolt clamps for the pipe connectors. Will do a test run with SD soon to see the pressure readings.

It happened to me too! Idk what to do besides take it to the dealer for the look, I also noticed the usual "whistle" you get from the turbos when you accelerate doesn't happen to my car anymore.. this really sucks

you would not feel a vibration from something as small and light as a bent turbine or compressor wheel. They weigh a few hundred grams. You would probably hear it though.
