C43 vs c450, debating...

Hey guys,
searching on this forums for a while and finally went to test drive both cars... it is time to make the move but also want to hear your valuable opinion:

What will you take between 2017 c43 and 2016 c450 and WHY
-same mileage (30k miles)
-c43 has amg exhaust
-c43 has 1 years and 3 months factory warranty (with cpo, total 3 years and 3 months)
-c43 has night package and 19” wheels
-c450 has 6 months factory wrranty ( with cpo, 2.5 years total)
-price differences: c450 is $5000 less than c43 after taxes

To me, AMG exhaust sounds great ONLY under dynamic mode but i feel the 7 speed in c450 under s+ mode is more livable as a daily. C450 s+ mode has more controllable crackles after lifting the gas paddle... Just my quick observation test driving both back to back.

Thanks

loved my c450 and would pick it over a prefacelift c43 because of the transmission. The 7g was better IMO.

I feel like the c450 should be cheaper comparatively.

thanks, i like it too but 5000 just for that exhaust seems hard for me to justify...

thats what i found too... i noticed when i was under dynamic mode in c43, i felt the 1st gear too rough (i know it is by design and tuned by AMG this way), so i dont stay in that mode too long in the city driving condition which is pretty much 80% the time.

I guess what i am looking at is how to justify the extra $$$ on c43... but so far c450 looks like a better car and it fits the bill nicely...

thanks guys but pls keep the comments going.

The 9 speed on the C43 is better for a daily, I found the 7 speed wasn’t as smooth (plus you get that extra 1 mpg gain lol).

The PE is a must, the ability to turn it on and off is amazing.

The biggest reason for me was the C450 oddly enough was $75 a month more to insure over the newer C43. Same coverage. Thought that was telling

yup i checked the insurance c450 is a bit more expensive but not that much. In my area, just 50 more per YEAR. MPG? What MPG? Lol

If the 5k is not a huge budget breaker, I'd get the C43. The newer model year, upgraded exhaust, 9 speed gearbox, and additional warranty time make it the more attractive buy.

Thanks, i am leaning more toward buying C43 coz after listening to some of the youtube clips, i think AMG PE sounds better than C450 when it makes those upshift "farts" (more or less like a whipping sound to me). C450 is a more "frugal" choice between the two and i am not even sure if this qualifies as the right word to use in this particular scenario... AMG PE in my opinion should be the biggest selling point of C43 and the AMG badges here and there (LOL). I know it is not a real AMG but i just dont care coz when I drove a GLA45 AMG, some folks still dont consider 45 a real AMG....

I agree with Silver Surfer , c43 is just an overall better purchase , plus the fact that after purchase the c43 will be worth at least the $5000 more than the c450 . Its a no brainer .

I kind of like the idea of a C450 badge on my C43. After all, they are virtually the same car, and 450 is a bigger number. 🤗

Yeah, exactly - it’s the same car, and I kinda like the C450 - as though it has a huge engine in a C Class.

Post the options on both cars. What headlights do they have? Static LED or intelligent LED? How about the steering wheel? Some came with round with heated wheels and most came with flat bottom with alcantata material. How about the seats? AMG seats costs $2k.

sure

c450 has adpative led, c43 doesn't
c43 has amg flat bottom steering wheel, c450 has just flat bottom, no arcantara or amg badge
they both come with standard sports seat with artico leather.
c43 has open pore wood trim and red seat belt c450 has piano black trim and black seat belt.

Adaptive or intelligent LED have duel beams that lights up at night and looks better imo. Static LED have just one light for low beam and 2nd light for high beam. You will notice what's what in first weeks comparing c class on the road.

The steering wheel on both trim have both pro and cons. Like the alcantara insert on c43 will start to look flat and discoloured after few years and regular leather wheel might look too plain on c450.

The piano trim sucks *** on the c450 and will look all scratched up if you look very closely. Black open pore is what you want.

you definitely seem held up over the badge. Just get the C43.

The steering wheels are IDENTICAL other than the badge.

the facelift steering wheel blows that wheel out of the water if you actually want a better wheel.

from what i have heard, north america adaptive LED simply dont have the bells and whistles (example: matrix lighting) like what European got over the years. Ours just turn according to your steering wheel input and then auto high/low beam for you until the radar detects cars from upcoming traffic. I could be wrong tho... yup, some of the C43 i saw already have discolored steering wheels and they dont look too nice, I am not even sure if there's anyway to restore it back to first day look considering the car was already pre-detailed and placed in Mercedes show room ans yet it still look not as nice as the full leather one.

I wont deny that i like AMG badges because that's why I am wanting an AMG over M or RS in the first place.
The new steering wheel definitely is my cup of tea and so does the face lift infotainment with AMG drive unit. I am a little bit disappointed that 2020 C class doesn't get the new MBUX while GLC gets it first... I never change my car just because the infotainment system, i just need a nice car mount and i am good to go!
