2017 MB C43 Owners - Urgent Question

Hi All,

Been a frequent monger on here but this will be my first time posting.

I’m actually in the process of financing a 17’ C43 Sedan w/ 38k mi for $35k and wanted to see how the reliability of this make and model has been for previous / current owners. I plan to keep this vehicle up to 80-100k and well aware of the stigma of European cars (Expensive maintenance, etc.,). Im coming from a 09 BMW 328i w/ 102k mi and have a trustworthy Indy Mechanic who has done all the work on my BMW and will be doing the same for the C43.

Can any previous or current owner shed some light on this topic? To add, I will be babying this car the same way I did with my 328i (No launches, high revs, high RPM shift, driving and shifting around 2-3.5 RPM). This will be a daily-ish driver, we own a 16’ Mazda CX-5 which will be the primary commuter.

From what I read I know the tires need to be changed often which is fine since we have an account w/ Les Schwab but is there anything else I should be worried about?

We will be going back to the dealership Tuesday when my lender sends the check and would appreciate all comments prior.

Thanks in advance and I apologize if this question has been asked multiple times.

i have a 2016 C450AMG currently at 96k miles, no problems.
but occasionally i got a message "Start Engine, see manual" something like that. probably almost time to replace the battery.
i replace the 18" run-flat, yes with run-flat, every 40k miles.

Thanks for your reply!

Since I’m nearing 40k-50k mi is there anything dire that needs to be changed or replaced?

50k service with spark plugs replace 843$ - 15% dealer coupon = 717$
60k service with brake fluid flush 1248$ - 15% dealer coupon + taxes = 1102$

The c43 is a great car but are you really not going to push it past 3500 rpm? If you are getting it just to cruise, it would be like driving a more uncomfortable c300 due to the stiffer suspension. I don't think you'll be able to resist though 😁
And get the performance exhaust if you can!

No launches, high revs etc, sounds really boring. You are better off dailying the C43.

I have a 2017 C43 coupe and have done about 32k miles. I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend getting one with an AMG exhaust - that's honestly the best part about owning this car. Also you will want to do the high revs and hear those pops

Is the one you are looking at a coupe or sedan? I have read the 2017 coupe was made in Germany and the 2017 sedan was in Alabama.

Are you getting extended warranty?

Just rolled 49,000 miles, 41k with JB4 installed - zero mechanical issues and I've done all service myself. Two interior issues - some rattling trim pieces, and she goes in Monday for the moldy smelling AC which is covered by warranty and class action lawsuit protection.

Thank you all for the replies!

Ended up buying the C43 and although it didn’t have the PE 😓 I still very much love this car. Tbh I did drive it pretty hard the first couple of days but since started driving it more “tame”.

Car is nearing 40k miles and hoping this last another 40k !!

Brake fluid flush is that much? Or is that for another service package as well?

C43 Coupe
2017 C43 Coupe, 43k km. I'm not completely issue-less but the positives on this car out-weighs the issues by a large margin.
- Tires (stock runflat 18"): punctured 2 tires. Both fixed by getting them plugged at a tire shop. Probably the tires are wider and softer on this car than my previous car that never had a tire issue for 10+ years.
- Wheels (OEM, the black ones but not the ones with many spokes): Passenger side front wheel cracked at the lip on the inside, after running over a pot hole. Fixable by re-welding at a good shop.
- Turbo air intake duct became undone, causing turbo leak and lost of power. Dealer fixed it by reinstalling the duct.
- Side mirror flood light issue. Fixed by dealer.
- Interior creaks from the dash but this is on and off. I think I only hear them during cold days.

I ended up getting the sedan since I have 2 other kids I have to haul around but the coupe was very tempting. This one was made in Alabama unfortunately. Heard the ones from Germany are a lot less problematic.

No extended warranty since I have an Indy mechanic who has worked on every single European car I’ve owned and has awesome craftsmanship. This did come with the factory warranty for 10k more mi but expires I think in a couple months. Going to bring it in for an inspection before it expires.

The biggest problem your going to have is that when the car is driven like Morgan Freeman from Driving Miss Daisy that it activates the driver seat ejection mechanism.
