Question H&R Sport springs, worth or nah?

Hello all,

I have a 2019 c43 sedan which I have been planning to lower for quite some time now but just have not pulled the trigger yet. I have searched the forums and even asked facebook groups but have not been given a definite answer. My c43 is now equipped with aftermarket wheels and tires (19x8.5 +30 front and 19x9.5 +45 rear; tire sizes are 235/35/19 front and 265/40/19 rear). If lowered with H&R sport springs, will I have rubbing/scraping issues with the fenders or inner wheel wells?

For anyone who has done this mod, have you had any experience scraping on speed bumps, sloped entry ways?

Also, photos are appreciated if you have any.

Thanks!

Tons of info on this topic already. The wheel specs you quoted should be fine with H&R springs - though your tire aspect ratios are reversed. I'm sure you meant to say 235/40/19 and 265/35/19. I have the same front setup (though on 20' rims) and everything fits fine. Some very minor rubbing taking large bumps at speed, but it's negligible and easy enough to avoid.

thanks for the reply man. You have the fixed one right, not the adjustable? You are correct about the tire ratios. I butchered that. Mbad. Since lowering it, you hadn’t had any issues?!

Correct, just the standard H&R springs. I honestly don't see the benefit of the adjustable ones - the drop on the regular ones is perfect IMO. This is the 3rd car I've installed H&R springs on and all 3 have been great. 0 issues.

I have had the H&R fixed height springs for approximately a year and could not be happier.

thats nice 👍 bud. Thanks for sharing.
i guess, one of the cons that people are saying with the fixed springs are “reverse rake” which i am not really worries. Im more concerned about the camber i guess. Did you end up installing some camber kits?

No need for camber plates IMO. What’s incorrectly referred to as “camber wear” is normally caused by your toe settings which exasperates negative camber. Just get an alignment after installing the springs to dial the toe out.

Hey guys, quick question about these H&R sport springs... do you maintain the ability to switch between the different suspension ride modes (comfort, sport, sport +) with these? Like if I press the suspension button, does it still do anything? Or does that feature become null? Or do you have to buy the adjustable VTF springs to maintain that functionality? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question.

The adjustable suspension modes effect the struts, not springs. Installing lowering springs doesn’t change anything in that regard other than making each setting firmer than stock.

ahh ok, understood.... thanks for clearing that up for me... I’m not the best with the suspension and wheel stuff... more so the wheel fitment stuff, but I was just a little confused about the springs... I’m trying to buy a new set of wheels and tires, and possibly lower the car and all the fitment stuff has been really confusing for me to understand. Lol

Wagon and coupe lower the car differently. Sedan H&R non adjustable springs give the car reverse rake. This has been covered extensively on the forums.

Just curious if you added a camber kit to your wagon? Or if the alignment after installing the lowering springs was ok?

Thanks. Stock (powdercoated) 19” rims with 12mm spacers in the front and 15 mm spacers in the rear. H&R fixed-height springs with UltaRacing subframe braces and strut bars.
