And no more C43.
About to be the C53 with a "mild-hybridised version of the A45 S’s 310kW/500Nm four-pot."
Times. They are a changin' . . .

The C117 A45S (that USA doesn’t get) is an awesome car, miles ahead of the C43 that is getting a bit long in the tooth now. I welcome the change, and can’t wait for the C43 to be improved.

I am so glad I got my 18 with the V6; now I'll just have to keep it for a long time...
The 4-banger just doesn't sound right. Of course, nothing beats the deep growl of a big ol' V8....

What a bummer

For me, if I’m considering an AMG, it has to be either the V8 or the 4 cylinder. The V6 just isn’t really good, especially when you compare to the other German marques’ V6 and/or in-line 6 which are much better performers. I think it is befitting that it finally retires from the line up.

So the new generation C63 should be perfect for you. I understand that BMW has the six figured out and is what they are known for but going all four on the new C AMG's is crazy. I think the new M4/3 will be a great car, I'd rather put up with that grill than a four banger.

If a car is engaging and sounds good, that's definitely a good start.

Not quite sure why the article (and multiple sources) mentioned C43 when Daimler trademarked C53. Unless they are not using that moniker yet.
"Whole 206 C-Class lineup including from C 180 to C 63e will have the same engine but different DELA variants, powered by the M254 and different electric motors"
"C 63e 4matic will have 449 hp produced by the ICE and 204 hp produced by the electric motors."
"C 43 will be 390 hp powered by M254 with formula1 e-turbo tech"
Hmmm, this source mentions C43 and not C53 either.
"206 Coupé and convertible doesn't exist. Merging it into CLE based on a mix of C and E."
World Premiere of All new C-Class (206) will be Feb 23rd, 2021.
Not sure the reliability of the information, the source is jesmb.de. The source of the trademark filed is autoguide.com

Yeah A45S vs C43 is not the same comparison. I wonder how all these new hybrid AMG will compare to the current gen in the top end when you start from 60mph or so.

I've driven a GLA 45 and although it's far from anything negative, I really love the V6's in the 43s. I don't expect the m276 to have been engineered like BMW M does their 6 cylinders (it's a direct competitor to B58, not S55 or S58) or now Benz with their obsession with 4 cylinders, a waken up 43 is wild.

For those who want a (sort of) early glimpse of the W206 in non-AMG line form, here is a promo video in 360p.

Good news. Looks like the C 43 successor based on the W206 is finally being revealed, probably right after the T-Class event:

I own a ‘16 c450 and recently drove a ‘21 CLA45 (c118) US version, 382hp. In my opinion, the car felt more nimble than my C450 due to its relatively small size, but it certainly didn’t throw me back in the seat or feel more powerful than my bi-turbo six. Also, I had to keep it in sport+ mode to really get the feedback I was hoping for. I was also a little underwhelmed when flooring it on the highway and making passes from ~60-90mph.
I’m still optimistic though, and hoping this upcoming version of the M139 engine produces 420-450hp. Fingers crossed…

If you login to the AMG Private Lounge and go to the Newsroom section there's a teaser video that has some sound of the engine/exhaust as well as revealing a bit more of the car.
