Humming Sound

Took my car (20 C43) out for. spin today, and when I got home there was this humming sound (sounded like electrical interference in a speaker) that could be heard from the front drivers side. I thought at first that I was hearing things, but the wife said something about it as well. I parked the car still able to hear the hum, turned it off, and turned it back on and the hum was gone. Any ideas on what it maybe?

Help!

Unfortunately, our cars makes lots of noises, most are normal, some are rather interesting and still may be normal but without a video it is really hard to help you. If you couldn't record it and it is intermittent I am afraid the dealership wouldn't be able to help you if they can't duplicate it either. Can you tell us more details, for example, is the sound louder in the rear or is it clearly from the engine bay? Is your climate control on? Is your car warm when the sound occurs, is it dry or wet outside, what is the temperature like outside, what speeds was the sound the most apparent, what drive mode were you in, etc.
Edit: As the previous post suggested, can you please check the video and tell us if the sound is similar to that?

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the comments, been a busy week and I really haven't driven the car since posting. I did check the clip out from the other thread and its definitely not that sound.
I was able to capture it today, seems like it was intermittent. We came home after a 20 min drive, pulled on the driveway and I was able to hear it. It is definitely coming from the front, and it definitely louder when I lifted the hood up to grab video. We went for an even longer drive (60 miles) after I heard the hum on the driveway, pulled up, the wife and kiddo got out and there was no noise. As soon as they cleared the front of the car, it started up again. It sounds like its from the radar, but then again, first time I have owned a car with radar guided cruise so, I could be wrong.

Hmmm, this sound is extremely similar if not identical to the sound the car in this thread makes:

Unfortunately, the status of the issue was never updated by the original poster of the thread.

Sorry that it ended up that way, hopefully someone else on the forum that might know what it is can comment. Otherwise, please let us know what the dealership tells you what the problem is once it is fixed. It will be helpful for others who might experience the problem in the future.

Alrighty....
Just picked up the car, and well it appears that they have fixed it. We will see.
I played the audio I posted to the lead tech, and let him know where I was hearing the sound once I popped the hood. Lead tech took the car for a road test, and was able to confirm the same sound I was hearing. They were able to pinpoint the issue to the Boost Pressure Transducer (010-153-13-28). I was told it is an air pressure sensor for the turbo. Dealer replaced the sensor, and performed another road test where they confirmed that the sound was no longer being produced.

I was stuck in a drive thru for a while and I didn't hear it, and so Im hopeful, but only time will tell.

Hopefully it did it for you! Your dealership seems to be pretty helpful and was able to duplicate the problem for you, therefore this might just be the fix it needed. Many dealerships brush people off by saying they can't find the issue, yours seem to care.

Thank you for your update on this thread and letting us know the results of the diagnostics and the repair (incl. part number) that was necessary to fix the issue. Although the issue is uncommon, I am sure your post will be helpful for anyone else that happens to have this exact same problem in the future.

Enjoy your car!

GLE43 Coupe AMG
Hey thanks for this post. According to your video my 19” GLE43 AMG is doing the same Humming noise. It’s at the dealership now. They said it was a valve and were surprised that the Check engine light did not go on because of this. Also my heat pump needed to be replaced as the heat was blowing on one side and cold on the passengers. But I’m not sure exactly what the part that’s being replaced is called but I will update it on here when I retrieve my vehicle on Tuesday. Hopefully yours is corrected and still going well.

Yup all has been well since the work was done. No hum, so if they are replacing the part it should solve the issue.
