c450 vs c43
Since I require a car with no sunroof in order to have headroom for a race helmet, I had given up on finding a C43 and was focused on the C450. I saw an ad today for a 2017 C43 that said "P4 options except sunroof, HUD, ..." I reached out to the seller for details and expect to hear back soon. Regarding these two models, what will I be getting in the C43 over the C450? Is there an old authoritative thread I haven't found? I only know the following, what more?
- 9 speed transmission
- Performance Exhaust available option

So many questions!
This car has a lot of stuff, but no 19" wheels, no HUD, no rear camera (not a fed mandated thing by 2017??).
Has an interesting pair of option codes
003 MANUAL DATE-CONTROLLED VEHICLE
102 CONTROL PRODUCTION TEST 2
The date controlled thing must mean it was a very early model? Or ordered very early? VIN decoder says:
Release Date 2016-05-24
Delivery Date 2016-11-10
Google search results make me think the TEST 2 code is for being pulled off the assembly line, or pulled aside after assembly, for random production testing. Also makes sense for an early run car.

Anyone know what 501 is?
It has the driver aid package, with the collision warning, distronic plus, expanded brake assist, lane keeping, park assist, rear cross traffic, etc. Can all that be turned off completely for autocross and track events?
It has the COMAND APS NTG5/NTG5.5 system with the DVD player, aren't there good aftermarket options out there now for adding CarPlay/AndroidAuto to that system? I've read some of the threads on that, and there seems to be a stock MB parts option and some aftermarket options, but didn't know if there was one solution everyone preferred.

Thanks, @SweDlux, that's good to know since I didn't see a backup camera option listed. I wish a wagon/estate was available to us in the US! You're lucky to have it.

You need to jump on this one and not let it get away. You won't find another C43 with those options without a sunroof.
-The 18" five-spoke wheels are the standard offering, nothing wrong with them but easily changed if you're not a fan.
-Production began on it 5/17/16 and retailed 03/31/17. There are some interesting code changes between production and retail. My guess reading through everything, it spent 2-3 months as a MB reps car which is nothing to be concerned about.
-As previously stated, 501 is the surround view camera system.

I agree. He's asking $44,500, one owner, all service records. Pics look nice. Problem is, it's 10 hours away, so difficult to inspect! How do I deal with that?

Pay to have a PPI done by someone out there if he's willing or go with your gut. Cars don't last long in this market.

CarFax says the dealership put the car for sale 11/23/2016 and it sold 03/31/2017 with 81 miles on it. Isn't that a long time for a new car to be at a dealership? Maybe it was used for test drives? It would be interesting (by no means necessary!) to know what happened between 5/17 and 11/23.

I can see a lot more than Carfax can in some regards.
It had a use code change and returned to the VPC about a month later. Once at the dealership it had a second use code change when it was traded to another dealership and immediately sold. It was never on a dealership lot until 11/12/16. The more I read through, the more it looks like a demo car.

Should I run from a demo car? It's been a 1 owner car with what appears to be proper services performed.

VPC is the vehicle preparation center for Mercedes-Benz. Nothing to run from, factory reps are not out abusing cars, if this is the case for this one. I'd jump on it ASAP.
