Try closing the hood again, if not, the hood might be bent, it is aluminum after all, I will need to check my 2017 to see if it is the same thing to know if it is normal or if mine is also broken.

It seems like to me that the fender is hanging down a bit?

FYI I am planning to purchase this vehicle. It is almost 300miles from my location so wanted to check with you all before going there in person

Looks to me like the front bumper is misaligned. Assuming it's been removed and reinstalled incorrectly. The seam between the front bumper and fender on the passenger side seems off as well.

Clearly no body people in here. Excuse the dusty AF engine bay. There are adjustable hood stops on each side of the front body frame support. Twist to raise/lower and fine tune the hood gap on each side. Either pass side is too high, or driver is too low.

I would have to assume it is from a fender bender by previous owner. Perhaps body shop was not very qualified. Perhaps they were qualified, but damage was too much to hide with normal adjustments available. Not that Carfax always shows every problem, but did you get a Carfax report? Maybe take it to a certified M-B body shop and have them analyze it as part of your pre-purchase inspection process.

looks like previous owner ripped the bumper off on a parking block IMO.

Some slight adjustment to hood and a new bumper probably necessary to eliminate completely.

If the hood aligns to both fenders the same, then it's just getting the plastic nose piece aligned/replaced.

EQS 450 4Matic SUV
I had the same problem on a brand new EQS 450 SUV. I was ready to storm over to the dealer and start jumping up and down until they fixed it, I am glad I kept my cool and did some research on very old forum posts.

As it turns out Mercedes uses a hinge design that I have seen referred to as double jointed. If you lower the hood to an almost lowered position and gently press it closed you are likely to find one side has a larger gap than the other. If you lower the hood until the front edge is about a foot above the normal closed position and just drop it letting it slam shut, the hood alignment should self-correct. I did this on the EQS SUV and it immediately squared things up.

Glad you figured it out.
In that case, probably your dealership has opened it once before it arrived to you and closed it improperly, yikes. All that training of which they went through to do things properly yet this happens. Hopefully they did the PDI properly.

Actually, my dealer in not responsible for improperly closing the hood. I opened the hood to clear out the leaves that accumulated in just a few days. The hood on the EQS does not have hood supports so I gently lowered the hood and pressed it closed. I did not notice the misalignment until the next day. I ordered some hood supports that are due to arrive next week. If my first attempt at selecting hood struts is off the mark (which is likely) I may have to fabricate something to span the front compartment so I can set up a scale to weigh the hood in the open position.

I am guessing that the struts from one of the other full size MBs would work. However, getting help from the dealer to identify suitable struts is unlikely since MB doesn't trust vehicle owners to open the hood.

I see, thanks for clarifying.

There is possibile to do horizontally also?

You can see that is going more on left side.
