Dilema! CLS55 or C63

I'm ready to dump the C32 for a new rig. However, I'm stuck between getting a used CLS55 or dropping the cash on a new C63. The reason I am looking between these 2 cars is I plan to stick with MB and the price of both cars is about the same.

My requirements for a car -

* Must have 4 doors
* Must be both fast and quick
* Must turn heads
* Must be mod friendly

To me the CLS seems more sleek, sexy, sophisticated where as the new C63 just looks *** mean, attitude, can of whoop *** on wheels! Both cars are highly appealing to me and I can't make up my mind. I'm going to be heading overseas on business for a few months and once I return I will be either reserving a C63 or driving back in a CLS.

I am very familiar with both cars and *claimed* numbers. Sell me boys! Help me make up my mind!lol

I'd vote for the CLS. The reasons:
1. The obvious: Sophisticated looks, more room, etc.
2. More serious, not just an entry level of Mercedes-Benz.
3. It might be just as quick as the C63, and even if it's not, who cares, you're driving the sexiest Benz. Although reliability might be an issue.

This is the exact same dilemma I have, I'm considering a CLS as well but the C63 is so tempting. So I'll just have to see what happens next year whether I'll grow up or not

Edit: I just got back from a quick lunch and saw a black CLS55, it looked effin awesome. I think a CLS would look better in dark colors.

More room? I dont know about that! CLS55 is very cramped inside.. rear seats are for kids max! Where in C63 They will at least have more head room!

heat soak,

5 gears

and rear is very cramped for such a large car.

Love the look.

But after owning 2 kompressor engines.. i'm done. Love the potential, the 63 engine is the best of both worlds.

now a used CLS63 is a different story.

I agree and had thought about that as well...kompressor engines and their "issues". It just seems the 6.3 doesn't have near the potential for big number as the boosted 5.5 in the E and CLS. I am open to the idea of a CLS63 though.

To those of you that preordered the C63, why did you chose that over a used CLS55/63 for the same price?

imo, if they're both in the same price range, i would get the C63. 1) hottest, newest AMG in the market and 2) it's a NEW car and not a used, possibly abused, car.

Personally, I would go for the CLS. My reason is because it has a fantastic full leather interior. The C63 is great, but only performance wise. If you would appreciate leather everywhere (such as the dashboard), give the CLS another look.

Oh, FYI, it's spelled "dilemma" not "dilema".

Your requirements of the car must turning heads... Just remember, you're only turning the heads of people who can't afford them.

People who try to turn people's heads are annoying because they try too hard.

i would only get a CLS55 if i could find one in absolute perfect shape. Otherwise C63.

I think it depends on if you want a great handling more athletic vehicle as well. CLS55 is more of a cruiser that u can throw at some twisties where as the C63 is more aggressive.

c63, as it, along with the clk63 black are ushering in a new era of handling for Benz. The cls, while fine for a large car just won't be as crisp as the newer designs.

ok here is my take.
looks u can not deny that the CLS is sexy! the C is also but not to all eyes (not sleek)

performance cls 55 stock will win over stock c63. Mmoding wise is still the same as of todays mods.

heat soak..... mostly related to bad pumps/pullies that are just to big hint hint (ASP) you can not have a boosted PC with out working on the cooling(bigger fans/ watercalling etc). You can not up the power of the car so much and expect to stop the same way you did before, with out touching brakes etc.

interior wise CLS also seems to win as the C has not won me over. Car will also be seen as a C to some foks.

now pros the C will have the latest stuff (brakes/suspestion/sports esp settings)
will be the new car
elctroincs might be newer.

my only fear is well.. with all new things the first batch usuly has its faults. Look at the first batch of sl55 and e63/cls63s

Seems I struck a nerve. Sorry if I came across the wrong way. I simply meant I want a car that has that "wow" factor. Something everyone can appreciate from a car nut to a novice. I feel most all AMGs have that wow factor. I'm not some ego maniac that is trying to turn peoples heads in that sense. Thank you for pointing out my misspelling of dilemMa. I'd be lost without spellcheck.

To the rest of you, thank you for all the posts, pro and con! I know I will be happy with either car. I also know that there will be days that I will wish I had purchased the other car. If I get the C I'll want the CLS, if I get the CLS I will want the C.lol I need a rich mistress to buy me nice toys.

*Patrick, I didn't spellcheck this so there may be another misspelled word...*

CLS55 vs C63

Again, the CLS wins in all categories:

- Looks: CLS55 is bigger and looks much better, sexier, more elegant, more stylish, more unique, and definately more EXOTIC. The C-Class is just too common because Mercedes sells way too many C-Classes.

- Performance: stock vs stock, both cars will be close, but modded vs modded, the CLS55 will KILL any C63, as the C63 can only go up to 530 to 550 hp due to the weak tranny while the CLS can easily add 100 rwhp and a ton of torque and pretty much destroy most cars on the road. But again, the C63 will out handle that CLS any day any time.

- Room: the CLS may be small for a 4-door sedan of its size, but it still has more room than the C-Class. I'm only 5'10" and I couldn't fit in the back of the new C300 without pushing one of the front seats almost all the way to the front, but I was able to at least fit in the CLS55.

- Turning Heads: the CLS will definately get you more hotties. Most girls don't know the difference between the AMG and just a sport pockage Mercedes. So when they look at a C-Class, although they may think it looks nice, it just won't issue a statement like a CLS-Class. The CLS was designed specifically by Mercedes to be more unique, more sleek, and more exclusive.

Think of it this way:

CLS55 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, but inside the car, panties will go down in just 3 seconds

Great review and that last line is priceless!lmfao Part of the reason I will be getting a new ride is as a present to myself in celebration of newfound liberation. Divorced after 5 long years and actually came out of the deal in one piece. I plan on putting both 0-60 times to the test.

Hahaha...lmao!! love this comment!!

I was actually facing the same dilemMa!! but I have made my mind up already. No more C class for me for the next benz i own!! like MB_forever said... even thought it's an AMG a lot of folks will look at it as a C class only and I think I’ve had my share of owning an entry level AMG benz and ready to step it up a notch. Oh, and I also had my share of headaches owning a used benz!! all gonna be brand spanking new with 0 miles from now on!! My next choice will be a CLS63 for sure!! Unless a new sexy E AMG is introduced by the time I decide to buy!

If you like this comment, then let me tell you that it gets even better: I've had hot chicks tell me they can have an orgasm by just looking at the SL . And the scary part is they probably weren't joking The SL-Class is the fastest panties-dropper model that Mercedes has (not including the SLR 722 of course ).

But seriously, the CLS is a major head turner whether it is CLS500 or CLS63. The car is classy, stylish, sexy, and very fast...

If I didn't have student loans up the *** and could afford a second car, then an SL would be pretty sweet. For now I can only swing one nice ride at a time and the SL is both steep in price and far less practical. Wonder what the ladies think of the "pulse" button on the seats....?hehe

Get the CLS55. My guess is that its already taken its major depreciation hit given the CLS63 is out. I have had one and had a bit of a hard time parting with it. It has virtually the same performance as the new CLS63, it has a better exhaust note than almost anything except a Ferrari (Top Gear picked it second to an F430), the interior I'm guessing is a lot better than the C63, and the exterior is the best Mercedes has to offer, imo.
It is a heavy car though and you'll feel it. My M6 weighs about the same but feels a lot more nimble. It is a great highway vehicle. And if you like a torquey ride to effortlessly blast boy racers into the weeds from a stop light this is the one to do it.

I think the new C63 is the best looking sedan in the market, neck I think the C-class spoet even looks great.

Totally false. Evidently you're not a true car enthusiast. There are people out there that appreciate cars for what they are, not just because they can't afford them. If I saw a nicely modded car or a rare car I would take a second look. One's car doesn't always show how much money you make.

CLS55/63 its the top of the C and technically at par with the E55/63. People will look at either as being like the you made it feeling but the CLS is very unique looking and the C63 will stand out for a while but fall right in but the CLS will continue to impress. Even used the CLS55/63 is more rare while the money minded will go after the faster depreciating C63. Go to the big boy you won't regret it. Even now a used CLS55/63 will set you back 70k.
