I'm young and want a 2 door, plus I love the potential of twin turbos and I plan to have lots of fun with this car. To put things into perspective, I was between getting a 996TTX50, E92 M3, and the new GT-R. The GT-R just does it for me.

The C63 is probably my favorite current Benz and if I had the money, I'd ****** one up in a heartbeat.

If you are going to mod it, then get a Vspec so that you don't have to touch the suspension. And with the turbos...sheesh it will be like having a high end supra as far as the tuning potential! I could see some tuning and a little help breathing and the GTR will be a low 11 if not high 10 second car that can take a turn with the best of em.

I don't have the patience to wait around for a V-spec, plus the suspension will do just fine for me as I live in NY and I'll have all to do to live with the "comfort mode" suspension that the GT-R comes with stock lol. This will primarily be a street car with the occassional track day here or there and probably a dozen or so Friday night drag strip runs. The brakes look pretty solid so I doubt I have to touch those. And yeah, I'm going to tune for power, so that's why I'm pumped about this car. I'm definitely looking for the 10's.

Speaking of mods, from what I've heard the C63 should also be able to hit the 550+hp realm with some bolt-ons and a tune...11 sec for sure

With all this talk about the V Spec, is there any information out there? I am not , er was not, a Nissan fan. So, I have no idea what V Spec is all about. Can someone enlighten me?

There is absolutely no official info other than the fact that Nissan officials *hinted* at the idea that there will be a V-spec. In the past there have been V-specs for the Skyline GT-R's as well as Nur editions, Z tunes, V-spec II's, and a few more.

The V-spec which I believe will come out a year or two later, will be a GT-R with a few more carbon fiber exterior pieces and suspension tweaks. It will be a little more "track-tuned" than the base GT-R. Probably $5-10 g's more too, but once again, all speculation.

To further on that point, the V-Spec models usually come with a "smarter" transmission which is more aggressively engineered, taughter suspension, and better brakes. Expect more air ducts for the brakes as well, especially a Z06 style rear brake duct. Plus now that the infamous 276hp "cap" is gone we can expect more power as well.

It's a definite that there will be a V-spec model, there always has been, especially due to the controversy a few years ago when the Sentra engineers wanted to use the term and the GTR development team went ape***** and said absolutely not.

LOL. I owned a Sentra SE-R Spec V.....the thing was a p.o.s. I wish Nissan never made that car to begain with.

At the end of the day, the C63 will accelerate just as fast and hard. Also, on the street, you will NOT be able to tell a difference in handling whatsoever. So what difference will be evident? Plastic interior, squeaks, wind-noise, road-noise, the attention you draw from teenagers [who WILL put fingerprints all over your car looking inside] vs. professionals [who appreciate an AMG].

Great points. Many owners will never use the full potential of the car, but i konw if anyone in their right mind spends $70k on a Nissan....they must track it. I've tracked my car 3 times, and it's not a beast like the GT-R will be....ahh. I can't wait for Top Gear to drive the C63 and the GT-R....and even the IS-F; should be fun.

Vspec is primarily a suspension thing. If you ever see an R33 or R34 with a Vspec badge then unless you are in a modded [suspensio] NSX or something like that then do not expect to be able to turn like anything with a Vspec badge. (let me clarify... because this the internet... a vspec badge that was put on at the factory...)

Thanks for all the information regarding the V Spec. If I decide to get the GTR in the future, it would be the standard and not the V Spec. I need space for the kids and the SLK isn't cutting it now.

On another note, I did a little research on the GTR. Wow. That LCD screen display is pretty damn nice. Check it out...

"More unusual is a multi-function display, in the center of the dash, that not only gives you a detailed log of your driving behavior - speed, g-force, fuel economy etc - but also gives details of the car's mechanical information (turbo boost, water and engine oil pressure, transmission oil, front/rear drive distribution etc) plus steering angles, braking and acceleration pressure, and also optimal gearshift mapping for best fuel economy. The design of the multi-function display - which also includes the satellite navigation and audio controls - was done in conjunction with Polyphony Digital Inc, designer of the Gran Turismo video game series for Sony PlayStation. "

not in GTR what they did is they purposely fitted gearbox at the back so the power first sent to rear wheels and only then to front! Believe me they did quite a job with this car its very superior weapon!!!

C63 has also AWD edition. I am not a big fan of Japanese cars, however I'd take GT-R, it is certainly more affordable with more features.

I was more impressed with the CLK63 Black Series while I was there this Sat. Morning. The CLK63 looked SO WIDE and and it sat so much lower than the C63. I also liked the traditional oval lights like our C32/C55s. However, it's MSRP was $135K with 500hp. It's a bit overpriced compared to the C63. I definitely want an AWD for my next car although the 2005/06 SL65 will be a good compromise.

If you want a car that's really fast on the track and will kill just about anything this side of a full blown racecar why **** around with a C63 or a GTR get a Caterham CSR or Superlight R500. If you want something a little more civilised wait for the KTM.
