Ok folks got a chance to drivve a white S5. It is good but not awesome
Looks: S5 in white and brown interior was very stylish, the best color for the S5 IMHO, easily one of the best looking cars on the road if ya exlcude the exotics like the R8, F430, Gallardo, Vantage etc.
Seats: Very nice but they sit high and dont go much low. They are not as supportive while cornering unlike like amg seats
Exhaust note: Nice rumble ,sounds good at WOT but not loud enough
Ride and Handling: Awd handles very well and rides well too
Gear box: little Notchy
Feel: Sporty but GT car like and lacks the overall feel of a sports car/sports sedan
Interior Controls: Aud interiors are the best and all controls feel good to touch but Tilt/telescope is only manual
Steering: very light at low speeds but firms up at speeds. Steering is decent but not great
Sunroof: will tilt only
I think C63 Amg will be more fun and will only be a notch lesser in style but i am expecting the C63 exhuast, seats, handling and steering to be way superior

To be honest the thing i would want is an S5 in black on red interior with the bang system or the monster that the RS5 will be int he same config. Do an exhaust system on it short shifter my god it would haul ***.

So far, what I've seen of the S5 doesn't thrill me, but I must admit that I'm getting harder and harder to thrill. I'd say the S5 does everything it should based on its specs. It's as fast as it should be, handles like it should, and is comfortable as Audis tend to be. I'm not sure that's enough to win me over. Basically, it's a nice competitor to the 335 coupe, and it offers better all-weather capability (and lacks the BMW image - which some buyers like).

Again, this car is no rocket like the C63 or some of the others out there but it's no slouch either.

Audi have made it clear that for true geaheads the future lies with their RS line from now on. However, one needs deep pockets.

Yep Exhaust sounds great from outside and I experienced that when dealer was putting the car back but I prefer little more rumble from inside since I have to live with the car IMHO

Very good write up. I agree, totally. Also agree on the exhaust note, very nice on the outside, but I found myself damn near tach'd out during testdrive cruising since I couldnt hear anything on the inside of the S5.
I had a 2005 C55 for almost 2 years. Yes, they are two different cars, and the W203 goes waaaay back where the B8 chassis is fresh and new . I like the two doors and the manual of the S5, but the C55 is a great car, good handling, steering and braking and the torque. I actually prefer the C55 over the E55, if anything for the handling and the "non-electronic-feel" braking. I think the S5 is a stellar car for what it is. In my opinion, I think the C63 will surpass the acceleration, handling, braking and overall performance of the S5, but it wont look as good, have two doors, or be able to row throught the gears. I want both!

The Audi dealer in Rockville, MD had an S5 on the lot (only one). Went to see it. The sales rep said "we don't let anyone test drive it - it's just so people can see it and place an order if they like it."
Two seconds later, some couple comes out with another rep - and a key to the car - they hop in and take off on a drive.
No test drives - eh? Nice introduction to that dealership.

Has anyone seen this video yet? I think the CLK500 accelerated faster than the S5 and 335i from the last time I saw it (which was a while ago).

Can any German speakers enlighten us?
