GT-R Beats Z06, GT3, R8 in Evo Track & Road Test, Article Link Here
Unbelievable that a $71,000 car beats a Z06, an R8 and a GT3 on roads and tracks. So then whats going to happen when the V-Spec comes out that will be lighter, better brakes, faster shift times, wider tires and over 550 HP?
Damn, talking about value for money
http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22031
Does anyone know when the V-Spec will be released for the U.S.? And how do you guys think this car will compare performance and dynamics wise to the new 2009 Lambo Gallardo LP560? I know for the almost $250,000 asking price of a nicely equipped LP560 you could probably have a 1,500 HP GT-R with carbon brakes and custom everything, but still.....

GT-R: 0-100 = 8.9, 100-0 = 4.3, accel to brake reaction time = 0.6
Z06: 0-100 = 8.5, 100-0 = 4.5, accel to brake reaction time = 1.0
R/T did the Z06 in...but damn am I impressed with the GT-R. What an animal. The scary thing is, it'll make any old grandpa driver into a Dom Toretto (dual clutch tranny and awd will make this thing a menace in anyone's hands). Badass ride...can't wait to see one on the streets.

i loved the GTR, until I just read that it is limited from the factory to 112 mph. It has sensors on the valve stems that sends error codes if you put aftermarket rims on it. you have to keep the stock rims on it. putting an intake throws codes too. nissan voids the warranty if it is driven hard or tracked on unapproved race tracks. This is totally messed up.

gallardo lp560 is 250k? I read somewhere that it was going to be around 200k. My friend wants to get one badly, but doubt he would pay 250k for one.

It's a very nice car except, like some of the others have said, that dealer experience and mark ups are ruining it. Plus it basically tied a 3 year old Chevy and Porsche in performance.<yawn>

Anyway, the GT-R is a phenomenal "value" when considering the performance it offers, even though it's sort-of tough to call any $70k+ car a "value." As for the mark-ups, time will tell, however I wouldn't be surprised if they die down a few months after they're available from dealers.

Although I certainly like the CLK63BS better overall, I bet from a performance standpoint it'd give you a run for your money as well chiphomme...

I'm sure it would beat my car but I couldn't care less, so will a Z06.
Maybe its just that I'm sick of hearing about a car that isn't even available yet beating 3 year old car designs. Compare it to a ZR1 when it arrives.
They'll cost about the same unless Chevy dealers gouge too (which wouldn't shock me).

for a loaded one
Well I just guestimated $250,000 for a fully optioned out Lambo LP560, because a loaded current Gallardo Spyder can run up over $235,000, so $250,000 doesn't seem too far fetched for this newer and better version decked out with all the options like Carbon brakes, carbon fiber interior upgrades, leather upgrades, nav/audio upgrades, wheels, etc..

Another question to ponder guys...
Another question to ponder is what could we do with a factory stock GT-R if we were to upgrade it to the price of a loaded GT3 or loaded R8..... it would probably make a ton more horsepower and God knows what else..... What does a loaded GT3 cost? $135,000? I don't know, but if we put $64,000 of upgrades into a $71,000 GT-R then who knows how capable and fast it could be.....
the biggest issue alot of us have with it is that first of all its not a Benz, and the badge doesn't have the same appeal as rolling up in a Lambo, Ferrari, Bentley, etc...
On the bright side, AMG is going to put twin-turbo's on the 63 V-8 and on more models in the future... so the potential for AMG is just beginning.... we haven't even scratched the surface of what AMG can do with more leeway to be more creative with their engineering and design layouts in the future.....
This GT-R, and the upcoming V-Spec version have at the very least drawn a new line in the sand and are going to force alot of auto makers to up their game...

Every time a new car or engine or gear box or what ever fast car related comes out you are all over it....
god help you, as i think it will be hard for you to find and keep a car with that imagination of yours

It looks like Chevrolet’s Corvette isn’t the only model or maker to decide that horsepower figures have reached a good resting point. Mercedes’ AMG head has declared horsepower is “not our main focus,” instead the company will be gathering effort to improve interior and exterior appearance and quality, handling and the rest of the “overall package.”
AMG is currently happy with their power and performance levels relative to the rest of the market, and while the company won’t completely rule out further power advances, it will focus its might on improving efficiency and lowering CO2 emissions. The latter will be of paramount importance if they brand hopes to continue for long in most of the nations that constitute its largest markets, and certainly if it wants to do business in the EU, and increasingly, the U.S.
One of the main changes that may fuel the increase in economy and decrease in emissions: not all AMG models may get unique powerplants. In fact, there’s a good likelihood that AMG models could share engines with the normal Mercedes-Benz cars they are based on, according to Carpoint. An example of what AMG can do when it builds a custom engine, the 63-series engine, which powers the CLS63 AMG among others, is a fire-breathing maniac of automotive excess, producing in excess of 500hp in various trims. Unfortunately, fuel consumption is similarly excessive, clocking in at 16.5L/100km (14.25mpg US) in the combined cycle.
This compares fairly well to cars like Audi’s RS6, which grinds out 573hp from its 5.0L V10 engine. Remember, these are the horsepower figures for family sedans - yet there are supercars that can barely rival such figures. In fact, Audi’s own R8 comes in over 150hp shy of the RS6. Perhaps it really is time to focus on things besides power.

The GTR costs about the same as a Z06, possibly a few grand less...
I do not understand your original argument about the GTR and your boredom with it beating cars that are 3 years old, as well as the CLK BS being beat by the GTR and the Z06...
The 997 turbo that it also bests is less than two...
It has been said before but a fair comparison will be the V spec with the ZR1 and the GT2...
