40k profit? Cars are being sold at sticker across the country. Who is paying 100k for an M3? The economy is falling further into a recession daily and gas prices are not 4 bucks a gallon again so I dot see cars going for over sticker for a while. Dealerships will be discounting the C63 and M3 in no time at all.

Net a $40k profit? That's like trying to double the price of a quart of milk, M3's are going to be falling from the sky in no time.
I hope this kid gets the car, but only after the stealer is publicly flogged and left bleeding in the middle of the street surrounded by media.

It would be really nice if the the sales person and manager were held accountable as well. Maybe they should apologize to the public with their resignations.
Just really bad business ethics on this BMW dealership, but then again I've seen this occur on other auto makes as well

Yeah, I came across this story on another fourm. Its spreading across the web like a wildfire. When you go to Google and type "BMW M3 auction" in the search box, it's the first link listed.

Best post in the thread is by a former PR exec. He states that the stealer in question clearly missed a free lunch, think about all of the great press they could have generated by saying, "Okay, we screwed up the auction, but here's your car, and make sure you tell your friends about us."

The dealer is now offering to sell the OP the M3 at $60k. So according to the OP, tomorrow he will finalize the deal and take ownership of the car at the price he won the bid. Very good news.

there are alot of people "BMW enthusiasts" paying premium for these cars...I doubt dealership would have put up a fight over a few thousand, they are taking a nice loss at selling the car for 60K
