C63 Winter wheels?

I know, I know......It's not even summer yet and I am asking about Winter wheels on a C63.

I need to find out if there is a Winter Wheel and Tire Size recommendation on the Tire Pressure spec label on the drivers door center pillar. Reason I ask is that I have an '09 C63 coming in September and am selling my '05 C55. I have a set of winter wheels and snows mounted and want to know if they will work on the C63 or if I should sell them with the C55.

Any reply from any new C63 owner would be appreciated!!!

I have PM'd several new owners in the lat 10 days....but I guess they are to busy enjoying the new ride to look at the Tire Pressure Spec Label (LOL)

Thanks guys

Funny thing, just this afternoon I have actively started doing a search for a set of wheels, 19", that way I can keep the OEM wheels to be mounted with snows. As well I have a 09 C63 arriving in early Sept, who knows our sleeping beauties will arrive on the boat together! I am also searching to rectify the possilbe problem with the TPS. I was told, that there is an aftermarket TPS that is compatible, since it is only a remote sensor, with the AMG, for only $100 per wheel rather than the $400 or so. BTW, I was told by my dealer here in Ottawa that if I want a winter wheel/tire package it is probably going to be around $4000, therefore, I decided on looking into getting the C63 euro model wheels(much nicer) if i am going to spend all that coin.

Thats what the told me when I got the C55 (More like $4500) Picked up a set of 17" OEM AMG w203 5 spokes from TireRack and a set of 225 Pilot Alpin's all for under $2500.
Didn't know about a TPS issue. Can you be more specific??

I was told that if the "winter" set of wheel/tires dont have the tps monitors hooked up we would have a problem with the tps signal going off, that there is an error, setting off the warning light or chime. If someone with a second set of wheels for this car has any experience with this, it would help us guys that live in the ****ty climate for 5 months of the year.

I wasn't aware the C63 came equipped with TPS. It does have pressure loss warning but I don"t think monitoring is there....

Could be wrong though.

Barry, just a sugestion, I have been doing some research and I as well will be in the same delima, so what I have decided, considering that the winter/wheel package will be quite costly, is to keep the OEM wheels for the winter and I just have to buy the rubber, and purcahse a second set of aftermarket wheel, maybe 19" or what I have been thinking is maybe sticking to 18', therefore I could use the rubber from the OEM wheel, I have found several wheels that resemble the eurospec C63 15 spoke wheel (19") which could be made in 18", just a suggestion, as everyone has their own preference of wheels. Nick.

Thanks, I went though this with the C55 as well. I rather like the OEM wheels on the C63. The only aftermarket wheel I really like is the Kleemann TS6 but they are 19" and 20" only. So I want to keep the OEM's for summer and try and find a AMG 5 spoke w polished lip for winter. Good tuff wheel.(my current ones still look new after 4 hard winters) They can be had in either 17 or 18" for around the $250 mark if you shop around.

'08 CL600,'09 C63 (sld), '07 550i (sld), '08 VW , '04 X5 4.4 (sld), '02 ML (sld), '01 e46M3 (sld)
Re: TPMS - had this issue with my 550i and was a really simple fix. Got winter rims and tires from tirerack and they can fit the compatible tire pressure monitors to each wheel - pretty good service - had the rims, tires, tpms, mounted, rotated, balanced and shipped - all I had to do was fit them - nice and simple. Same solution should be there for the C63 making life easy too.

Reason I ask is that all the Canadian dealers were recommending an 18" set up for my C55 before it arrived and then the Spec label recommended a 225/17/45 setup for winter. Thats what I have now with OEM AMG W203 5 spokes with Pilot Alpins all around.. Great set up and was hoping to duplicate it with the C63.
That was personal recommendation. For snow tires you want them to be as narrow as possible. If you don't mind de-pimping your car by using 17", then that's great. Plenty of choices.
But if you want to keep it cool and use 18, then your choice is limited.
If you can find 18x8 wheels with the right offset to fit your C63, then by all means get 225/40 snow tires on all four. Again, the narrower the better.
I personally would only consider Michelin PA2, Blizzak LM25 or Pirelli Sottozero.

Yup, PA2's all the way. VERY quiet and grip like there's no tomorrow.

Thanks D. How you enjoying the new car??

Its not the winters tires I was asking about. More of the Winter wheel Size recommendation on the Drivers door pillar spec label. I am told the North American Label is recommending 225.40.18"s
