So.. after months and months of anticipation and waiting.. after many many calls and trips to the dealership, just 2 days ago I got the phone call from my dealer saying: "I have one bad and one good news to give you!" Being the kind of person that I am, I asked for the bad news first.

Bad news was that my car which was supposed to be delivered this May, will not be delivered until late July or Early August! As Mercedes-Benz Germany has decided to only allocate 12, 2008 C63 AMGs to the Ontario region and that is the cut off date for the 2008 model year. Again.. being the unlucky person that I am, I was #3 on the list of people "guaranteed" to receive a 2008 C63, but guess what!? AMG only allocated 2 cars to my dealership... Isn't life just great?!? So now I have to wait a few more months to get my car!

BUT...

The Good news which cheered me up was the fact that some of the features that were previously offered on the 2008 model as options are now standard! E.g. In Dash CD Changer, Navigation is now a part of the Premium package and is no longer a separate option by itself.. ANDDDD the Performance Package is offered to Canada for the 2009 models.. However the 19" Rims are not yet part of the package and have not shown up on the Mercedes systems.

Now all that stuff aside.. my dealer is a really cool guy and as a form of apology he offered to drive me to a dealership near by to go and see the very first C63 that has arrived in Toronto.. and I will not talk much more about it... other than the fact that this car cannot be justified with any other word than WOW! Just WOW! Absolute perfection in every angle, shape, form, SOUUUUUUND!!! This car is an absolute form of Art! I down to the creators of this masterpiece.

The Pricing as of yet is not announced, but the estimates are around $10,000 Canadian.

 

Great, looks like your 2009 will be on the same boat as mine and North 44 C55 not to be arrvining in late aug or early sept. Personally, by sacrificing a few months to receive a 2009 model will be better in the end, unless of course you have to be the "new kind on the block" first.....I struggles with this of course, but my much more rational wife outlined this, so for know, I am confined to this forum, which is a blast. BTW, my dealer seems to think that the performance package will be in the nieghbourhood of $6500.00.

yea it cannot be over 5000, in US its 3900 US... so around 5gs is about right!

Well the Performance packages that are currently offered by Merecedes-Benz in Canada... for example on the E63 it is $10,000.. on the SL55 it is $18,000.. and the parts that are going to be installed on the C63 are very similar to the E63 and the price range of that is shown on the Mercedes-Benz Canada website.

If the Performance Package were to be under $5000, it would be amazing! But sources say that it cannot be.. as the others are all $10,000 above.

 

At $10.800 the 030n pkg on the E63 gives you:

AMG 18” 5-spoke multi-piece wheels (not on the C63) MB CDN Price approx: $1800
Electronic speed limiter deletion

Something very important that was pointed out to me was the price of changing the High Performance Carbon Composite Brakes which can cost up to $4500 CAD to have replaced.

 

True, they are Composite two piece rotors with aluminum centers and iron discs. They call these composite because of the two materials but there is no Carbon Composite. Still a lot less weight though. My source tells me that a front Brake job will run in the $1500 to $1750 range. About double from a non 030 C63.

I really dont know if I should order PP or not... I mean its gonna be my DD and all that talk about stiff suspension is throwing me off.. and if its anything over 5gs i'll take it out of my option.... But i do want an LSD for this car. Its a must... really weird that AMG didnt put it from the factory!

 

Personally I love the wait. I try and make use of the time getting all the planning and research on mod's done and out of he way so there are no surprises and nothing to worry about but driving (and the price of 94 octane) once the car arrives.

 

You got me thinking. (I know...thats a dangerous thing) I have seen some fantastic 2 piece Rotor sets around of late so I went hunting.

I looked for some OEM MB Carbon Composite Rotors for comparison. As near as I can figure a set on an SLR will run you about $25k to replace (Ouch)

Now down to reality.

First stop was our friends at VRP Tuning:

Here are the highlights:

- They are 360mm front and 330mm rear rotors.
- You save a little over 8lbs on each corner. Thats a 32lb saving over the stock steel setup.
- The hats are hard anodized black for that stealth look.
- Directional rotors which allows an increase in cooling efficiency. The stock rotors are non-directional. 1 side cools while the other side will actually keep the heat on the rotor.
- It's a 2piece floating hat design.

These type of options being a worst case scenario.....I can live with that.

So are you saying that if one were to order the Performance Package.. the brakes could later on be switched with the ones you mentioned of?

 

Exactly. C63 without 030 PP Pkg will be able to uppgrade to these as well. In both Stock and PP Pkg form, the front brakes have 360 x 36-millimeter discs with six-piston fixed calipers, while the rear is by 330 x 26-millimeter discs with four-piston fixed calipers.
It also speaks to the cost of a brake job cost on a C63. $4500 is way out of whack and if turns out to be the price, then we have very good alternatives
