I really need to know.

I live in metropolitan Chicago and am definitely considering a C63. However, it would--nonsensically--be my winter car. I have an A3 winter beater right now, which will go to my very appreciative son, and am thinking of "stepping up" a bit, LOL.

My main question: can this thing handle Chicago snow and potholes? I would stick with the 18" rims and get snow tires, for sure. I consider myself to be a pretty decent driver. I would undoubtedly end up driving it for more than just the winter because it's such a fantastic car, but this is a question that must be answered before I even consider a test drive.

Should I go for it, or be more sensible and buy a 335xi sedan instead?

i live in NY so our winters and potholes are pretty much the same

worse roads in NY actually i think

anyways, in the snow this car aint going anywhere

in the rain i hear its alrite

but definitely not snow

as far as potholes are conserned, be carefull
one good pothole might **** up ur tires and/or rim and the pzero tires it comes with are very dellicate

as all real sport cars the ride will be a little stiff, but its like that in all cars of this nature

and as far as changing the tires, i think you can only have high performance ZR rated tires on it

dont think snow tires are a good idea

I know exactly what it is, which is an eight-cylinder small sedan hot rod. I know many people who get through winter easily in RWD BMWs (5 Series, mostly), so I was only wondering if the same was true of this car.

I don't plan on letting my C63 see any snow as I'll be driving my SUV in the winter time

snow and power just dont mix

NYC its pretty much the same. I usually let my car hybernate during the really snowy days.

I can be 200% attentive and still get hit or bumped by others on the road.

I for the life of me can't figure out why people spend so much on a car and drive it in the hellish conditions we have in Chicago and similar areas during the winter season. Especially a sports type car.

Winters are nothing but snow, salt, ice, and torn up roads. I have no problem parking my nice car and driving a $5k or so car. Let the elements beat the hell out of it and I won't lose one wink of sleep or care to impress as even that nice car looks like *** coated in salt and dirt.

This car would be impossible to drive in the snow unless you op for the LSD option. I was going up my driveway the other night after it rainned, and it wouldn't get up there without the continuous intervention of the traction control.

I also put snows on my 335i. It goes like a tank in the snow. Its alotta fun.

i think the info on the door panel of the car says to only use ZR rated tires

if you can put diff rims and snow tires on it thats cool

i just dont know if you can/should

plus, it might be a little expensive buying a new set of rims and tires just for the snow

Different strokes for different folks - everyone purchases an auto for different roles and not everyone can live in SoCal or South Florida for great weather and great roads.

Like someone said - the car can handle the roads. As far as snow - again, snow tires and maybe even a different set of wheels (smaller) for the strong part of the season will help you out tremendously.

Enjoy the car if you end up purchasing.

if its too expensive for you to spend $600 on snow tires you shouldnt own or even consider a c63...in the grand scheme of things, $1000 isn't **** in my opinion - hell, a million dollars doesn't get you too far these days as it is

just my two cents

BUY THE C63

I have a 135i also. THere is a big difference between the low down torque of my 135i and my C63. That is the bit that makes it difficult to get traction on very slippery surface. Of course you can drive a C63 in the snow, but you will have drive very very carefully to not get into trouble (or even go anywhere!). If I live in somewhere like Chicago, I would be buying a ML63 for winter.
