Arrow Don't Race With Bikes!

Hi guys,

The other day I was on the infamous 101 freeway heading toward Thousand Oaks when this guy on a Sports Bike (Heavy Bike or w/e) passes me by and then slows down to my speed of about 75 MPH. He looks at me and revs his bike a lil and kept wanting to race so I gave in. I had the C63 in C mode and the A/C on during the whole time.

Anyway I just went for it and gave it all in from 75 to ?? MPH but this guy would take off slower than me and then gone like a bullit??? I was kinda pissed but I let em go due to the fact that I am still breaking in the car.

Are bikes really that powerful? I have a 6.2 V8 under the hood and this guy beats me? How does this happend?

Anywho thought I would share this with you all since the car attracts many wanna-be "racers" lol

You just learned this? Power to weight..... You may be able to take some smaller displacement bikes at higher speeds but most sport bikes running around will destroy you in a straight line.

It is funny running with the on the north loop in Germany where it is routine to pass them all day. Four wheels on the ground is much better than two in extreme traction situations.

A sport bike will probably have about 120 bhp or more, weighs next to nothing and is geared to race, so most of the time they will pull on a car, next time, try to have it in sport, there will be a difference, but he will probably beat you. Sounds like you are having loads of fun, you lucky #$^#.

Ha ha, don't beat yourself over it.

My R1 has over 200hp with a weight of less than 450 lbs! you do the math! let me give you a hint, quarter mile under 10 seconds.

I beat a sportbike with my GT500 a couple of weekends ago. Should have seen his face afterwards...

Im sure it was not a ZX12 or anything like that, but it was a newer fast looking sportbike.

Bugatti is a monster!! top speed on a restricted R1 is 187 while the Veyron tops 200 + MPH.

but a well driven R1 should beat a Bugatti to the quarter mile.

R1
9.86 @ 147.0 mile

Bugatti Veyron
10.4 @ 139.9

You cant compare an R1 to a Varon, 1000hp and awd. As for real world cars, most bikes will beat them, however there are some cars that will take them out. I was riding my ZX7R and had a STI on my butt, I couldnt shake him. Im sure if I had a long straight I would have but at those speeds with a heavy car behind you, its better to give him the win. You really dont want to get run over by a car at any speed let alone at.... well lets not get into that.

I dont want to get people going on speeds and others trying to beat them.
Dont kill yourselves or others.

You only have a chance against a squid on a 600cc sportbike or less.An experienced rider on a 1000cc will own 95% of the cars on the road in any speed contest

An R1 w 200rwhp?With or w/out nitrous/power adder?And,your 1/4mi is "under 10 seconds"...more like should be a 8.90@160+mph...at least thats what my stock wheelbase '05 GSXR-1K w 201rwhp(all motor) runs for comparison
Post up the dyno sheets or your timeslip to prove it...I've been around bikes too long to not question that number

No surprise OldGix has it right on the money again.

I barely eeked out the W on the Yamaha R6 bone stock. Even with pipes, he would have had me. Time of this vid, my car was in the 625-650 range.

I absolutely won't race bikes regardless of my chances of winning (which are obviously slim to none). It's just too easy for them to crash and cause serious injury or death to the driver. I don't want to play hide the soap in prison any time soon.

I have a 07 Suzuki GSXR 600. It has about 120ish Hp. (exhaust, power commander) It's all about power to weight ratio. with me my bike is at about 5 lb per hp.

a C63 is like 8.5 lb per hp.

The ONLY car that has beat me was C6 ZO6 w/ full exhuast, intake, tune. overtook me at 150ish.

if u r concerned beating bikes, get a civic and turbocharge it. u will beat bikes. 650whp on a civic with good traction is amazing. but in the end, ur C63 is a beautiful mercedes and it cant be compared. if ur looking for straight line power, i hope thats not the reason you bought the C63

where are you riders getting your horsepower figures from? it just makes me laugh.

an r1 with 200rwhp? please, tell us what you have done. better yet, post your dyno chart so we can see this.

a 600 that has just an exhaust and pc3 with 120rwhp? again, post the dyno chart please. just so you know, matsushima suzuki's formula extreme 600 only made 117rwhp, and that has just about every power adder available, plus some that are unobtanium.

i have been building, riding, and racing sportbikes for a long time, and i have raced many cars. from a stand still, from a roll, and around corners, the only way a car has a chance at beating a bike is if the rider sucks ***.

200hp bike will own Veyron, infact any car on the road. 0-60 on that should be very close to 2.0 seconds.

a little off subject,I used to race snowmobiles on ice ,225 crank hp 475 lb machine,0-60mph in 1.7 sec in 58 ft,and 0-100 mph in 4.4 sec we would only race 1/8 mile this is what some of the rice rockets can do so very few cars out there will stay with that,I have a stalker radar gun with the STATS system so it would tell you how many feet that you hit your mph in which was kool,my sled was slow compared to some that had over 300 hp and lighter they would hit 125 in 1/8 mile

now I have an 03 sl 500 with a kleeman supercharger its like going in reverse in comparison although I have heated seats

how many horses does te R1 have?
-it will own it 0-60 providing you have the skills required to launch a bike with 200rwhp;u simply do not twist the throttle&go

-my 201rwhp 1000 will pull 210mph w the right gearing, anthony d can verify that firsthand

-early '98 R1's had 125hp at the rear wheel;late model R1's have roughly 150-ish but are peaky in their power delivery.A PC3R,Akro pipe&a very very good custom map will net you a solid 160rwhp.You need to tear the engine down&do a complete build with pistons,o.s. valves, big cams, alot of headwork etc to even get close to 185rwhp from an all-motor R1.Plan on spending more the $10k on engine work

-there are PLENTY of 1000hp Supras on the street's that will walk highly modded bikes under the right conditions. When you start to run against high-end tuner cars you will need alot more then 200hp from a 400lb bike to win.A bike has horrible aerodynamics above 200mph....Twin turbo Vipers are deadly in a standing start 1mile race.I've seen cocky arrogant bike owners get soundly beat by these type of cars.

When you get into cars that make over 1000hp to the wheels&will run close to 250mph on the big end there is only one solution&recipe to beat them with a bike:a highly skilled rider&a 500+rwhp turbo Hayabusa;which will own 99.999% of the streetcars out there
