It should, all other 6.2l engines have em...pop off your intake shroud, find a set of Torx bits(T5 I think?)and off with the air filter covers. You will c the charcoals inside the plastic air filter assembly;slide them out gently to avoid cracking the delicate plastic holding them in place

What is the purpose of these filters?
Seems odd AMG would put something on its high-performance engine that would limit HP. There must be a reason.
Just asking the question....

for the same reason your car has a performance limiting catalytic converter. emission control.

so if i got a high flowing air filter than i could just replace the stock filter with the high flowing one and also remove the charcoal filters? or are the charcoal filters the stock ones. kinda confused.

So pretty much there are 2 separate air filters in the intake system. I got VRPs upgraded air filters so I should remove the larger air filter and replace that one with the VRPs. Then I should remove the charcoal filters completely from the intake system.
Correct?

Yes. The charcoal filters are only for emission purposes and they seem to just restrict air flow. Most of the European models don't even come with those charcoal filters. However, keep in mind that NOT ALL 63 models showed 20 hp gain by removing the filters. Some models showed +3 hp, some showed +5, other showed +10, while only 2 members shwoed +20 hp. It seems to be different from engine to engine and probably engine software version as well.
