08 now or wait 2 mths for 09??

Test drove a blk/blk loaded 08 today. Very nice. Not my first color choice, but nice nonetheless. I've got a Steel Grey 09 on order for a late August/early Sept delivery with the same options. The 08 is available now. Decisions, decisions..... 39 mth MB lease, nothing down w/15k miles/yr would be $1,258 w/o tax. Very tempting.

BTW - sounded very evil when I started it up!

If you are leasing, it doesnt matter if you get this 08 or wait a few months for an 09, same rates, residual etc.

i was told that the residule rate for an 09 should be better than that of the 08

the 08 it one model year older, and depreciates in value quicker

I guess weather is not a big concern for you in Cali. cus if it was id get one now to enjoy it. As for resid being lowered on MY09, dont count on what you hear from anyone just yet cus no one really knows. Its all just hear say. But you can guess that an 08 will be cheaper as the 09 gets closer, if it lasts that long.

Personally I would get the car I want before settling on a cheaper one. I mean if your not too concerned about color than save the money but if you really want somthing other then black just wait for it.

Not that I believe it but were did you hear this?
I really wouldn't count on anything till it happens. In this bussiness things change all the time and people often get pissed cus they were told one thing but something else happens in reality.

welll i was told this by a number of MB dealers

they said since this is an 09, that would make the 08 one model year older

hence, 3 years from today, an 08 will be worth less than an 09

its not liike its gonna be a drastic difference.....but an 08 will be worth less than an 09 for obvious reasons

The money factors will be lower on the 2009 because it is newer. The money factor on the 2008 has gone up every month as it gets later in the model year. Not sure about the residuals. This is the case for third-party lenders like US Bank or Wells Fargo. MB Financial may be different but their money factors are much higher to start. My dealer will go through third-party leasing to get lower rates if I want. Some dealers are less inclined to do so for reasons unknown to me.

Well, the 08 today would be the same as an 09 in sept, and the newer year will not have that much of an effect on lease value due to the new car, i was caught in this delima as my 09 steel grey i ordered at the end of april and is due to arrive here in late august, but after someone had cancelled their order on theyre 08 irridium a few days ago, i ended up with this one in my driveway yesterday. I am leasing, so by waiting for two more months for the one i ordered, will not make my payments cheaper if you think the residual will be higher. It isnt going to be higher, so i took the 08 yesterday. If i were buying, then i would wait for the 09 i ordered for another 2 months. So, entirely up to you.
