Decontenting -- No Power Fold Mirrors

Guys...when I compared the 2009 Net Star printout to the 2008 Net Star version, the 2009s were missing the power fold mirrors. Saw my car today, sure enough, they are not part of the 2009 standard equipment.

However, picking up car tomorrow, so not the most major issue, but kind of annoying. Wondering how many other corners have been cut for 2009.

That's a bummer. Unfortunately that seems to be the way many manufacturers are going...drop content and increase price. As you said though, that won't stop you from having fun!! Enjoy your ride.

I was also dissapointed. I picked up the car on Monday and finally looked over the manual last night and sure enough Power Retracting mirrors only available in Canada. But been having way too much fun driving to worry about an option i would never use. If i need to retract the mirrors I can easily get out of the car and do it manually!!

There is no longer a 1000 mile diagnostic maintenance interval. First maintenance is at 2000 miles to change differential oil, and it is NOT complementary, although my dealer offered it for free. Other than that so far nothing else major that stands out as different. I will report back in a few days on a new post as I am still learning things.

I was a little disappointed to see that they dropped the power fold mirrors as well in '09...they did however add the power tilt/telescoping wheel and the memory driver seat....

Memory seats i believe are part fo the P2 or MM packages, and yes they added 1 position to the stearing column (up and down in addition to in and out)

oh wow, thats good news

the one negative i had about the car when i was in it...was that because im so tall, i had to have the steering wheel extended all the way out

from the passenger seat this looked very funny!

LOL

Does the telescoping steering wheel move when you get in and out of the car?

Like in the Lexus, the steering wheel will retract and move up when you turn the car off. Makes it easier to get out.

Thats too bad, i really enjoy the power folding mirrors on mine, makes it alot easier in my garage to walk or carry things in between the cars. On another note: I never really considered the Keyless Go option, but on the car I picked up it came with it, I love this feature, now i cant live without it.

I too miss the power folding mirrors. In general, the car drives great, but some of the MM functionality is WAY behind...so much so that it is not even funny...especially IPod integration. Thankfully, the good (engine & seats) outweigh the bad (convenience features missing).

Still happy to be looking at the road ahead down the power domed hood!

MCC3456....just so you know

one of the NEW things added to the 09

the IPOD kit now goes to the navi screen, and not the instrument cluster
they claim they made big changes in that dept

My '08 has a fully adjustable wheel like this and memory, it's part of the AMG Leather PKG.... it also moves up out of the way on entry/exit.

I like my power folding mirrors. They are like ears going back.

Agree on the iPod... so is there better integration thru the Nav on '09s?

Hans, my wheel works this way also. I think what the OP is saying that in now moves in as well as up when you exit car?

The power wheel and memory seats were standard on the '08 C63's...they have now added this option the C-class overall (300, 350, and 63 models) if you get the Premium 1 package (not just on the C63's).

I rarely use the power folding mirrors on my Escalade and it is about five feet wider than a little C-Class. What an annoying little gripe. You don't even need that **** on this car. Where are you parking?

First off, nice 'tude.

Actually, the 2008 power folding mirrors fold automatically when you lock the door. Currently, I am parking in an Boston apartment building with very tight spaces and also a downtown Boston parking garage at work. The value is in being able to hug a post to buy yourself extra space between your pristine doors and that future door dinger parking next to you.

In addition, it also helps minimize cases where someone walks between cars and smacks the mirror housing with a gym bag. If you view it this way, it is not actually an annoying gripe. However, what is annoying is that something as small as this was taken off a C63 when a total stripped down C300 rental/loaner I was driving for a month and a half had it.

No better integration for '09. Frankly, it sucks compared to my old BMW. However, my Sirius seems to work much better than my 545i. Regarding the Nav screen layout, it really is way backwards to the BMWs. For the life of me, I can not understand what all the Hub-Bub was and is about I-Drive. It is absolutely intuitive compared M-B Command system. I figured it out on my test drive without ever looking at a manual when buying my 545 back in 2005.

Have you paired your phone yet? My phonebook didn't load automatically like it did in the new BMWs. I have to visit the Verizon store, hopefully it will load then.

Congrats on the new car, the driving experience - yeah! I just went to the garage and cleaned my wheels so I can drive it with pride tomorrow!

Yes, you are right. I totally forgot the address book quirk. Phone paired, no go on the address book. The car drives fantastic and I love the look. To my surprise, I am actually loving the engine and exhaust...I pre-judged it with my comments of changing the exhaust...the M3 does sound sweet though.

I guess for my savings of $8K off the M3, I will have to deal with the technology shortfalls. Really disappointed by the I-pod integration and audio system sound. Should have been refined by now.

The phonebook doesn't load automatically.
You need to flag the contacts in your phone and send them via Bluetooth to the car.
Once they are ready to send you activate Receive the contact cards on the phone area of the MM screen.

How does one flag the contacts? I tried transferring them via the MM Screen, but they did not take. More detailed instructs would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!
