Stock C63 Track Results

I just turned 550 miles by the time I got to the track today, managing to get 4 runs in (bracket night). The only thing I've done is removed the charcoal filters, so far all intents and purposes these runs will serve as my "stock" baseline.
My first run was made in Manual mode with ESP off. I hit the limiter on the 1-2 shift after bogging, all other runs were made in Sport mode with ESP off. I didn't try launching with ESP on or in sport mode, may have to try that next time. The track I ran at tonight (National Trail) doesn't prep very well, and it's not a quick/fast track by any means. As you can see it took me a while to learn how to launch the car, and I'm still working on it...Now onto the results:

Run 1) Pulled directly into the staging lanes with no cooldown from the 40 minute drive to the track. Oil temp: 210F Coolant: 197F.

DA was high, there was a 440rw SAE M6 H/C LS1 F-body trapping 111 v it's usual 118. There were definitely no records set tonight.

So the best corrected ET of the day was 12.53 with the best trap being 115.43. Not too shabby for a relatively green car. If I could just get out of the hole a bit quicker (say a 1.90 short time) this would be an easy 12.30 car off the showroom floor.

If I could just get out of the hole a bit quicker (say a 1.90 short time) this would be an easy 12.30 car off the showroom floor. I'm going to say 11.8-11.9 with 18" DRs + our tune and filters.

I have the tires otw but need to know how wide we can go in the rear with an 18" rim? 9.5-10"? Also open to suggestions on wheels that prefer function (lightweight) over form.

What are corrected numbers? They are similar to corrected dyno numbers in that they remove a significant amount of variables (temp, barometric pressure, track elevation, etc.) to yield more accurate/precise data. The higher the Density Altitude (DA) the larger the correction; this also works in the other direction if you race in negative DA (aka mineshaft) air.
The big 3 rags (MT, C&D, R&T, and others) all correct ETs/Traps as well.

I'll head back to the track next week with drop in K&Ns only, then comes our ECU tuning. I can't wait!

Thanks
Andy

NP guys.

Fikse, yes, I'm planning to run at Norwalk next Friday. I'll at least have drop in K&Ns in and might have my tune ready.

Thanks

Also changing the oil/filter at 600-650 miles and using Motul 5w-40/Mobil 1 Filter.

Thanks for the REAL world results

It's nice to see BOTH raw data and that DA adjusted stuff. You are DEAD ON about all the rags correcting their times as well. Nice homework, and THANKS again

See yeah

PS: I have always been a fan of REAL data, what you run, is what you run. No trophies, that I know of, where ever handed out to corrected data.

Thanks for the great info and stats. For lightweight wheels, the best I've seen out there is Dymag. Very pricey though...I think around $10k per set. I'm not sold on their looks either as I really like a deep dish wheel and these are not. (I'm a function over form guy too) I've been wanting to see a set of Dymags on a C class.

CCW in Daytona, FL has some lightweight forgings to make drag wheels for larger brake cars now.
Check him out.

NP, it was my pleasure, really!

I hear what you're saying about corrected data, it's definitely not the end all be all, but it definitely helps eliminate some of the differences between racing at Bandimere (one of the slowest tracks in the country) and running at Cecil (one of the fastest).

For this time of year, and the newness of the car, I'm pleased with the results overall. We can only go quicker/faster from here.

Thanks for the tips (Jason as well) on wheels, much appreciated.

nice... stats..

for a any newbies or outsiders

consider each track to have different conditions and factors to change your ETA and Trap speed.

The best way to compare other cars, would be to use the same track and run on the same day.

don't think a C63 will 13.2 at 109 at every track.. that won't be the case.

back to the topic:
115 correct trap is good! With the kleemann tune.. 116-118 will be no problem for around $1500

I would stick with the 9" rim and run 275/35 if you can.

Agreed, you never see drag race records broken in the middle of summer, just doesn't happen. That's what spring/fall are for. 13.2 was bouncing off the limiter on the 1-2 shift after a bog, I did get it down to 12.89@111.44 in last night's crappy air.

I have my own tune in the works, it will be in my car for testing in the next 2 weeks.

Nittos 18" DRs run small for their size so I'm sure they'll fit on the stock rims, but I'd like to find a wider rim if possible to maximize my contact patch.

Thanks!
Andy

Id go with a 305/35/18 Mickey Thompson DR. Will hook worlds better than a Nitto.
But for way more street driving the Nitto is a good choice.

Jason,
Will the MT fit a 9" rim?

Thanks

Go with this one then if you have 9"
it will hook better than a 305 nitto.
It is meant for 9-10" rim.

I'm drag strip and dyno testing before after all my mods so we know exactly how much power/torque I gain with each.

Find me an event at Mid-Ohio or in the general area and I'll be there.

Thanks Jason.

BTW, are you rocking a 3.3-3.4L TS on the GT500, or is that a 2.8/2.9L on race gas?
