According to DragTimes.com the E55s seem quicker over the quarter mile.. guess with that torque they will.

I'd imagine the C63 will fare better when you get to bends

E55 because of their ability to utilize the ESP for launching since they make so much low end torque. ESP causes the 6.2 to bog and without a PD blower it falls out of it's rather fat powerband.
With that being said I still think we're going to see 11 second tune/DR only C63s by the fall.

A stock E55 will easily dispatch a stock C63. The E55 have been averaging 12.30s to 12.40s, but almost all runs that were attempted in optimum weather conditions resulted in 11.80s to 11.90s runs bone stock.

Now once the C63 gets ECU-Tuned, then the game will definitely be more leveled. But then again, you're back at comparing stock to modified.

Out of curiosity, how are you launching P30 E63s at the strip?

Thanks

I have both but havn't pitted them up against each other. I will say the E55 feels quicker though; its punches you in the back more and the surge is much more understated then the C63's loud wail.

Not to say the C63 doesn't have a kick to it, but I can definatley tell the E55 has a bigger punch. I would expect with something like Kleeman tune and headers, the C63 wouldn't have trouble taking the E55, and with similar torque numbers have that kick the E55 has.

i think from a roll, the C63 can beat the E55... for simple things...

both cars have almost the same power(+25hp to E55), the E55 weights MORE, and have an OLD 5 gearbox...

because its shorter ratios the C63 will have better acceleration in higher speeds....

The E55 has +50hp, 500 crank not the 469 stated.

They should be very close

I have a C63 and have test driven an E55, but have no experience in anything head-to-head.

I did do some internet research across "Road and Track", "Car and Driver" and "MotorTrend". The numbers for those magazines quote very similar 1/4mile (12.5sec) and 0-60 (4.3sec) and 0-100 (9.7sec) average times. There were variances, but neither car was consistently faster.

This has been discussed to death over in the E55/E63 section of the board. The E55 dynos are identical to the S/SL/CL 55 dynos. All 55 kompressor motors are putting down 410 to 430 wheel hp, which equates to about 500 crank hp. So the E55 has a 50 more hp and 75 to 85 more torque. Of course, it also most of this torque available very early and very quickly.

I've tried a million different techniques. The most consistent one was to roll into the gas pedal in an increasingly fast motion from a dead stop. I will also sometimes launch from 1200 to 1600 rpms.

Thats funny hax? Is that how it really went down. You forgot to mention we raced 0-150mph and I had about 1 1/2 to 2 cars on you. The first roll we did was 25 -140 but you never were at my side, you were right behind me but not side by side. Third roll I started on 2nd gear instead of first which was a big mistake by me which gave you 1 1/2 on me. 4th roll as i took the lead you hit the brake because your tire's were spinning. You don't have to feel bad for what your gonna do to my E55 at all, mod's on a car isn't a stock vs stock race anymore.

E55 is gonna be faster, it traps higher aswell. it def. FEELS fast. i havent raced mine together yet, but i did race my 335i and C63, the 335i has a mild tune and intake. was neck and neck to 100mph where we stoped, same results 3 times in a row. the E55 higher trap should show about a 2 car win for it, esp at those speeds

That's what I've found with the C63 so far, fast roll in, not flat stomp. What about ESP setting, and was it in manual or auto?

Thanks!

On our E63s, we don't have 3 settings for the ESP like you guys do in the C63; we only have on and off. I always have ESP off when I'm at the drag strip. As for the transmission mode, most of the time I leave the car in Sport mode. However, I have tested M mode before and if you can master the shifts perfectly, it does yield faster results. I've measured this with 2 different devices, and both 0-90 mph results were slightly faster in M mode than in S mode. However, in M mode, there is a varying delay that occurs from the time you hit the paddle to the time the car actually shifts. The delay is not always the same, which makes it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to master the shifts.

Thanks for the reply. I feel you on the shift delay when in manual mode, the inconsistancy (in addition to the delay) drives me crazy. Hopefully this is something we'll be able to remedy with our ECU tuning. Worst case scenario I'd like to see manual type shift quickness/firmness (or more) while letting the car shift itself to yield the quickest and most consistant results--that I'm certain we can do.

Ford GTs, GT500s, SRT8s, Vipers/SRT10s, SRT4s, C6 Z06/C6, turbo Bentleys, turbo VWs, etc.

We use SCT/Diablo for domestics, and our own in house software to tune European and select Japanese vehicles.

Thanks
Andy

www.ModernHorsepower.com

The site is significantly behind our actual development; unfortunately I'm not very good at designing/building websites and my developer is a slackass. As soon as we have C63 data (track/dyno) I'll make sure it gets up asap.

Thanks
Andy

you mean.. the DELAY is different per GEAR , or is JUST ALEATORY? sometimes in 1st 0,2 sec sometimes 1st 0,4 sec LIKE THIS?
OR each GEAR HAS IT OWN DELAY , and always the same per gear?

sorry bad english i dont know if you got the idea....
