The car will be dyno tested on Wednesday morning after everything is installed. I am told they are predicting 570 flywheel hp and 475 rwhp.

Will post dyno sheet once I drive back from SoCal to Scottsdale...
If your in scottsdale make sure you head over to Dyno Comp for some dyno runs on a dyno dynamics dyno then hit me up for a friendy trip to the drags.

2009 C63 AMG
Update

VR530 is installed (heat spacers, pullies, relocated temp sensor, and improved filters), new shorty headers are installed, secondary CAT's are removed, resonator is removed and x-pipe is installed in its' place, and the ECU tune was done.

It has taken WAY more time than expected due to this being the first header being fabricated for the C63. They had to do them and re-do them 2 or 3 times. They got it on the dyno today and the initial results showed they have more work to do on the tune. They may also think that it needs the new airbox to take advantage of all the other mods.

So, I'm disappointed that my 2 day build may take a week or two, but in the end I think it will be what I was after. I'll post final numbers when it's done. They are going to work on the ECU tune more through next week, test the airbox, consider bigger exhaust pipe diameter, and then finalize the tune.

It does sound awesome though...

Not really surprising since you are the first one to get the tune. Still sucks tho...so what were the results you got so far?

Were you aware that you were going to be a development car ?

I wouldn't be happy risking my pride and joy to that unless a massive discount was on offer.. given you've kissed goodbye to your warranty.

I thought I was lucky to be "first in line" for a mod on my Lotus Exige a few years back.. resulted in the car being off the road for 6 months.

Here's hoping you get the car back safe and sound.

Thanks for the encouragement you wonderfully positive fellows.

In the end, Vadim is going to make this right. He's been doing this for 20 years, and so my car is becoming more of a development car than I expected, but he is taking care of me too.

sorry to hear things didn't turn out..

usually when it comes to tuning cars, modding, its like gambling.. sometimes things just don't turn out as you expect.

If I had a C63 and somebody was using my car as a Beta tester..I would definately pay only for actual costs of parts and maybe some labor time.

Also, I would do the mods in stages..

First, Air filter and ECU.

Then Add headers and tune ECU

and then exhaust.. (if shows no gains, go back to stock)

I think putting different elements together sometimes makes the process harder.

I have nothing but respect for VRP and have no doubt they will get it right..

Sorry to hear of the problem, James. Nothing worse than getting your hopes up only to find it is going to drag out before it gets to where you want it to be. Can you tell us what the initial dyno result was? I know you were estimating ~40 whp from the hardware, and then another 50-60 whp from the tune - did you at least pick up the 40 whp from the hardware swaps? How far off is the tune - major changes, or minor tweaks?

We're all living vicariously through you.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come across as an internet smart-***.

I feel your pain.. I guess getting your car back working and tuned is the priority, it just came across that you were as surprised as we were that your car was becoming a test car and alarm bells were ringing.

Been there...done that...You might not see your car for a while... Based on 1st hand experience. Good thing we have spare cars while we wait.

nice running into you on Wednesday at VRP. first red C series i have seen and i really liked it. i guess your car is delaying my car being ready but i am also happy to have vadim spend as much time as he needs with it. looking forward to seeing your dyno sheet when it's done.

James, is your C63 red? If so can you please post some pics. I've only seen one shot of a red one so far and loved it.

Thanks
Andy

Im curious to see what kind of issues they ran in to with the header development and the tuning. From what Ive read, the exhuast is a limiting factor (I know you are modifying yours). I used to hate promising an exact delivery date when working on newly fabricated components. Im sure the guys at VRP will make it right in the end. Would also love to hear the exhaust if you can get a quick vid of it.

I want to thank you OverBudget for opportunity to get the power out of his C63. Also all of the guys for your support.

We will continue development in about a week and I will post the data and the results as usual.

Stay Tuned!

Hey Guys,

I'm not going to post any numbers because they don't mean anything if we are sure the tune isn't optimized yet. When Vadim tells me the car has reached its' potential, I will detail out all the mods, post the dyno results, and shoot a video so you can hear the exhaust. I'll start a new thread when that happens, but it should be about a week.

Neveo: Nice meeting you and sorry my work delayed you. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone else out there too for their interest and support.
