Raced a C63 in my Jag!
I had a nice race with a C63 AMG last night! There was no traffic and we were going from stop light to stop light with full accelaration. It means about 0-70 mph each time...
I have a Jaguar XJ8 with 300 hp, so had not too much chance, but I realized, that I was always better with the start. We took off together most times, but as I realized C63 was struggeling with ESP all the times, so I was better with the starts. Of course he could always kill me after a while, but it was interesting that I could take off faster...

For sure you would blow his doors off in a BMW 650, maybe the guy was driving a C350 Sport and this turkey just doesnt know it.

Car Whore
hey idiots. he said he lost to the C63. he wasn't dissing the car at all, he was just sharing a fun story.
in fact, i am inclined to believe that flooring the c63 would result in a lot of ESP interference, while the 300bhp car would just take off because it wouldn't have any tire slip.

No I dont think you understand!!! All he said is that he got out on the C63 because of lack of traction on the AMG. Is that so hard to believe??? Once traction was obtained it was over. Heaven forbid the AMG had traction issues. Take it easy genius!!!

traction smaction
unless the driver of the AMG had no idea what theyre doing (which might be the case)
even if you spin out a bit when you floor it, do you think that jag will still take off on the C63
i think its highly unlikely
but what the heck do i know?

Tires make all the difference in the world. I have already read complaints in the C63 forum that the tires suck on these cars. So from a standing start it is believable the Jaguar got the jump. Then the OP mentions that the traction control may also have been an issue with the Benz. That can be driver-related as well.

If you both took off together every time, he should have left you every time.
It was probably a C320 with amg badges. I had an XJR with 375 bhp, and
it wouldn't stand a chance against any of my MB's. I smell troll!!

Therefore this is completely believeable. It sounds like the other driver just forgot to turn ESP to S or completely off.

This is nothing but a farce.
How did stefi know the esp was off, i thought you were in front every
time. Once the 63 was rolling ( a few feet) it would have demolished you.
Also the conditions were dry. Maybe you were 5 feet it front for around a second, hardly a race. Any way what's a Jag owner doing on this forum.
To wind up members I think.

you guys are funny, there is nothing unbelievable about the story, i was driving our xkr and raced my friends chrysler 300, at the start he would take me because traction control kept eating the power until it stopped interfering he would beat me but after that i reeled him in like no tomorrow. And the c63 has worse traction problems than our xkr![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)

2008 CLK 350, 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster
Just wanted to chime in since everyone else did. I really don't care who won a silly stop sign race. The thing is, whether or not there is truth to this story, it adds possible sound judgement by AMGs decision to detune the 6.3 in the C63. That is quite a bit of power for that chassis. Brabus and I think Kleemann have done it, but they've changed so many other parts co compensate for the extra power on tap.
I don't believe a loss to a stop light takes nothing away from the car. It's still one sweet ride....that i can't afford to drive.

If the traction control was off he would have a big warning sign in front of him,
and to turn the traction off you would know you did it.
I had a CLK 63 last year, and I don't ever remember spinning the wheels with traction on.
I still think it's a wind up, especially the..... of course he could always kill
me after a while. Subservient crap!!

when did this forum started to get filled with idiots?
the OP's XJ8 could very well be the current XJ which weights less than 3600lbs where the C63 weights more than 4000lbs. It doesn't take a genius to figure out if the 63 has traction problem off the line it won't go anywhere.

I don't think the story is unbelievable at all. I raced in the E55 many times (500 bhp), and sometimes when I caught a bad launch, I lost traction badly, and 300 hp cars got the jump on me with ease. But once the car started rolling, it wasn't much of a race.
