Kleeman ECU upgrade

Got the ECU done, have the before/after dynos (dont want to put it up cuz i have 2 scan it...ect. if ur skeptical, whatever). Started at 356=406hp 348=366 however the graphs are the most impressive figures. From 5,000 rmp w/out the tune the hp kind of levels off, however with the tune the hp continues upwards all the way until 7,000 rmp. Torque is equally impressive; at 5,500 rmp its 307=352.

Basically the real noticable difference is when u slam that puppy to the floor and it just feels like endless power. They estimate that its now 508 hp considering the stock hp/stock rwhp to the new rwhp/ (blah blah blah, for those who care).

Anyway, i love it, about to race my dad in his 04 porsche turbo converable tomorrow

What I like!
AWESOME. Thanks for doing this!

How is the rest of the car's behavior after the tune? Startup the same, cruising the same, throttle sensitivity/drivability the same?

What kind of dyno were you on?

Congrats on getting the tune. Keep us posted as you get more seat time with it.

I'm not sure what kind of dyno it was or anything, but i do know that if u look a few pages back that some1 did put their dyno sheet up from their Kleeman upgrade(thats the reason y i got it!). As for the ride, it all feels the same, just a hell of a lot faster, its awesome what an extra 50 or so RWHP does.

Sorry, but you can't take some mythical "brochure crank hp / test dyno hp" ratio and use that to compute your crank hp after a tune. Otherwise, you're getting 22% driveline loss in your car (i.e. you're not). Across the board tests say 18% is about right so your car after the tune is making about 495 crank hp according to your dyno chart. So either your initial dyno reading was very low (how very surprising - I'm assuming it was done by the tuner), or you had a weak motor to begin with (434 crank hp).

I was told by my MB tech the loss is supposed 2 b 21%. Whatever, does it really matter, 506 vs 495?

FWIW 17.5% is pretty much industry standard for a modern automatic trans like the 7As.

It does if you're the tuner.

You can't go wrong with the Kleemann tune!

$1495. for 66 crankshaft HP on my '08 C63. That's 517 crank HP using an 18% driveline loss which is the correct measurement for a late model automatic transmission when using a Dynojet chassis dyno.

My car went from 378 rwhp stock to 424 rwhp with JUST the tune. STOCK air filters, NO removal of charcoal filters....just a stock car with the Kleemann tune.

The car drives absolutely perfectly with no issues at all. Step on the gas and it is a totally different car!

If you have a C63, you NEED this mod! It is money well spent that you'll be very pleased with.

Congrats on the tune. I am considering the Kleeman tune. One question, you say it provides a 66hp gain. I do the math and get 44hp. 424-378=44hp. Is this correct? I understand that the power is felt above 5,000 rpm. It seems like all the tune does is set the factory hp deficit back to the standard tune that every other 6.2 has throughout the AMG fleet.

Corrected math below.

Stock rwhp: 378
Stock crank hp: 461 (378/.82)

Tune rwhp: 424
Tune crank hp: 517 (424/.82)

RWHP gain: 46 (424-378)
Crank HP gain: 56 (517-461)

Price/value or bang for the buck are pretty darn nice. 46 rwhp for $1,495! I think that works out to $32.50/hp. Can anyone compare the mid range gains tuned vs stock? I believe MHP has shown a slight gain through the mid range and a similar gain to the Kleeman above 5,000rpm. Can you extrapolate the torque figures from the horsepower gains?

Porsche GT3
Corrected math below.

Stock rwhp: 378
Stock crank hp: 461 (378/.82)

Tune rwhp: 424
Tune crank hp: 517 (424/.82)

RWHP gain: 46 (424-378)
Crank HP gain: 56 (517-461)

I thought the crank hp was 451 which when subtracted from 517 would give you 66hp (I have been out of school for awhile but this looks correct)

451 is a manufacturer's estimate - basically what they consider to be the minimum. Dividing tested rwhp by driveline loss (378/.82) shows the real crank hp.

Not to highjack danny's thead but I'm going to the dyno in 1hr to retest the stock ECU/TCU and get torque baselines (which I didn't do last time). This will allow us to better compare the gains from both v1 and v2 tuning; of course I'll start a new thread.

Thanks
