Detailing product
I have tried a bunch of different waxes to no waxes (coatings) and I use a Porter cable 7424 orbital. So I thought I would give my feeling about a product that I tried on the recommendation of a detailer on 6Speed.
Gloss-it. I am not affiliated with any cleaning product. But when our cars are new is the easiest time to protect the finish. I learned about how to detail when I bought my first new Porsche Twin Turbo in 2002. Midnite blu.
My next few colors werent that great to finish up, Gaurds red, Silver.
Now my AMG is black which is one of the best to detail and easiest to get dirty.
Gloss it has several different products from heavy cutting polishes to a fine wax. Since my car is new I only bought the detailer the Gloss activator and the Finish Gloss (I dont know if its a wax or what)
I had my car clear bra'd and then waited two weeks and tried it.
I got the best finish I have ever seen on a black car and even with an orbital no swirl marks. Its absolutely beautiful.
I was told the Gloss it activator that you put on before you apply the wax-stuff is not needed but with a black car i didnt want to take a chance.
The typical steps are on a really bad looking car are:
( I only washed and waxed my AMG these steps are just informational)
1. wash with Dove dish soap (to remove waxes)
2. Claybar the car with detailer (detailer forms a lube for the clay to ride on) Takes contaminants off the paint surface.
3. Heavy polish with orbital and cutting pads
4. Medium polish with orbital and medium pad
5 swirl mark remover and light pad on orbital
6. Apply wax
I usually use 3m products for cutting polishes that are made to use with an orbital
then what ever wax I want to use including a product called ReJex which is a coating for airplanes and gives a good shine in place of a wax
But this Gloss it is really good stuff.
1.I washed my car with a spot free mild soap (mothers i think)
2. Dried the car
3. Applied gloss activator by hand
4 applied Gloss it with Oribital.
I couldnt get all the Gloss it Wax to come off with the orbital and wax pad, so I quit after a few passes in big 2' by 2' figure X's and took the rest off with microfibre towels.
OH man it was as deep as I have ever made with a dark car.
its not expensive like $19 for the bottle of wax. And $20 for a BIG
bottle of GLoss enhancer (detailer)
I use new Costco Micro Fiber towels for each step. They are so cheap I buy a new 36 pack of towels every other time I go to Costco.
Check it out on 6SPeedonline.com they are a sponsor.
I didnt buy any of their other products or pads for the orbital. I used
stuff I already had. Polishing pads for my orbital and microfiber towels
from costco.
Good stuff and I like it. I used Mothers wax on the back (Due to my bad back I can do the whole car at one time) and I can see swirl marks but on the hood where I used the GLoss it it looks like a perfect finish.
Using the detailer it polishes up GREAT with a microfiber towel when it gets a smudge or mark.

No suggestions on cleaning it off but....
Buy a new pair of black jeans.

usually I use the 3m with the Porter Cable orbital
but this new stuff on the new Black AMG is just amazing.
I put a 2nd coat on today and its like looking in a wet pool
of black paint. AMAZING stuff.
on a new car its really easy!!
Gloss it
and they have a great paint restoration product too.
I am getting ready to use that on my black X5.
I have toiled around with Meguiars and all the other stuff
but this stuff is amazing

Zano Bros. originated in Coney Island, NY over 35 + yrs ago. They are most likely to be leaders in detail work first before anyone else ever did. (I believe) Zano also has a very long history in making exotic custom cars. They customized my corvette in 70's (when custom cars were a big thing then). Take some time and read..... http://www.zainostore.com/

Check out the forum and the results of the stuff. It is a sealant I think.
Its easy to use. I use the PC on setting 2 to put the stuff on till it hazes,
then wipe off with a Micro fiber towel then polish up with the quick detailer and done. The guy that showed me the Gloss it Damon at Tire rack
was a devoted Meguiars guy and he switched to Gloss it and is one hell
of a detailer check out those links I put up there.
And not to expensive. 19 for the gloss and 19 for the detailer and its a big bottle.

I guess we'll need to compare, do you have detail pics? I just put in my order @ Zano, should have it in a couple of days... A full complete detail could be a 4- 6 step process, depending on how glossy you want it to look.

There is a company here in Germany that does some sort of super hard glossy coating on the paint. I got their advertisement from my old BMW dealer here. I guess they polish down the paint to a very ultra smooth surface then coat it with this enamel of some sort. Don't know if enamel is the right word, but I'll look into it and give an update on it. I was thinking about getting that done before I move back to the USA. I'll try to scan in the flier for you all to see. They have a good reputation over here and do a lot of high end jobs. More to follow.

By the looks of things I guess I'm the only one that got sucked by the "paint protection" deal from the dealer, crap shoot my nine yr old grandson can put a better shine in his scooter than those clowns did on my car. I figure what a *** maybe would same my back for while, (with three car to keep up and I don’t like anybody cleaning my cars) then the guy hands me this little bottles says “you have to reapply every six months or so”. I say what? You got to be S**** me? I said keep it. If I have to reapply anything is not going to be with this crap. My car is OB Black, I think I can make it shine real nice with any proven product out there, I favor Meguiars products, but I will try Gloss-it and let your guys know how it comes out on metallic paint.

Pass,
Try the glossit SERIOUSLY I have never used something so easy.
I should take a pic of all the Meguiars crap I have.
I have been told the only way to make the Meguiars work
is to buy the pro stuff online.

I didn't go with the pro-line, this was a while ago not with my c63. I don't think you can get True Pro detailing stuff over the counter, unless you go through the internet.

The gloss it stuff is so easy to use.
I get my Porter cable. Put a dime size on 2' by 2'
buff to a haze in about 45 seconds. Let dry for 10 minutes
take off with a microfiber towel The polish to an incredible
shine with the Quick detailer. Done.
AND it gets shinier with every application of the quick detailer as
I walk around and admire it.
But when I found out Damon of Tire rack used it I knew it was good
stuff. He has given me years of great tire advice.

I too have been using Zano products for a few years now. The thing you have to realize with Zano is that it is not a wax per se it is a sealant compound. Waxes wear off faster. The final step of the Zano product is a wax buyt it is the sealant work that gets rid of the swirl marks etc and gives it that really deep look before the final finish application.
