Some pix of the New Ride - and my Others

Here are some shots of my New Obsidian C63 - full PP and CF as well as my others.

The C63 is probably the finest daily driver I have ever had. At any price. It is fast, torquey, handling is incredible (ie turn in and precision and feel) and ride. The seats and driving position are great as well. And it is unassuming so when I drive 50 miles each way to work, I am not conspicuous.

I have had a 911 TT (great), an RS4 (crap), M3 (great but lacking torque) and X54.8is (great, but too high a center of gravity) and others.

People I know ask me what I look for in a car given my obvious passion. I am spoiled, but I still look for in a daily driver what I have in the Scuderia or 599 or F430 spider --- a satisfying ride. That is a combination of things. The C63 deilvers. Period.

It is not the Scuderia --a weapon - awesome on the road and on the track (and better than the Carrera GT I had previously in so many ways); not the F430 Spider - a 6 speed stick and with the open top, provides a truly "connected" open air experience as there is nothing like a Ferrari manual tranny with the engine out an dopen behind you on a sunny day; and it is not the 599 -- an awesome, on the town, 600++ HP blunt instrument whose 12 cylinders scream like no other.

The C63 deliverz so much in a hard edged, but still not-in-your-face way (like the GT-R).

Keep your M3s and others. I LOVE my C63 (and after the ECU gets re-tuned and the CF diffuser goes on and the Brabus wheels and the other CF bits next week!!!)

Cheers

Such high endorsement and excitement for a car that cost a small fraction as compared to your line up of exotics.
You are one true car enthusiast, and you have a great taste in automobile.
I like to know why was the RS4 "crap"? Sorry, but I've never trusted Audi. MB, Porche and BMW are my only 3 choices of German automobiles.

AMG C63
Thanks for the write up.

Funny I have a X5 4.8is for a daily and the AMG replaced it. I kept the X5 for a family truckster. But I sold my GT3 and got the AMG since I have a physical problem (back) that keeps me from driving that.
I considered the RS4 and the M3 and had some of the same thoughts you did.
I was SO close to getting a M3 just because of our family relation with BMW
(the X5 and the 335i) But I am so glad I had a Family intervention and got the AMG

I appreciate you coming in here and giving us a very well rounded critique!!
Nice lineup too.

The C63 really has Soul - something that cannot be quantified for sure.

On the RS4, it was a question of poor quality and poor service, locally and by Audi USA. You hit it on the nose with a lack of "trust".

The RS4 was in the shop for 5 weeks in my first 5 months of ownership. When I first got it the steering was a bit loose when not under load. I took it back and they said camber was off 7 degrees (that is a ton). Said it must have occured in shipment or at the port. A few weeks later, same problem and another alignment - I asked that they check everything and they said they did but did not find anything wrong. A few more weeks and the same gig, so I went to anther dealer - same problem. They suspected it might be a lower control arm, but couldn't be sure. I spoke with the regional service manager and asked that they send someone to look at it but the declined. A few weeks later, same issue and I insisted they take it down. And ... the lower control arm was damage. The kicker - it was not covered under warranty - I must have hit a pothole or.... I explained that it was documented that the this was a problem from new, but they game me the run around. I thought given the RS4 is a "halo" car, they should step up. They did not. I traded it in the next day.

I have had a few AMGs and BMWs and Porsches and they have all been great - from sales to service to.... Audi? Never again!!!

Thanks Paul. I wish I had kept the X54.8is - a great truck and I miss it.

Sorry about the health issue. The GT3 is a great automobile, but I think the C63 provides as many smiles!!!

I have suggestions for every car in that picture. "Multi-Car Discount" comes to mind.

Love it; however, as you can appreciate, I keep the Italians bone stock - they are the exception to the rule that more is better!
