Here Are Your Official AMG Earplugs...and Hat
They had the new C63, E63, SL63, and CL63 available for short drives (on the street, accompanied by a driver).
They also had a C63 on the dyno...hence the earplugs. That car just roars! 0-60 runs were in the neighborhood of 4.1-4.2 secs, with 100 arriving around 10 secs.
They also had interactive displays featuring the 6.3 liter engine and the exhaust system. I got to drive the C63, and I'd say the transmission and seats impressed me the most...the seats have the biggest side bolsters I've ever seen. They grip you like a vise.
The event's traveling to 25 cities nationwide. We were number 15...I think Atlanta's next.
Fun day!

So I try registering for such an awesome event despite not having an AMG (I'm only 17, which is another problem in itself
) as a guest. I follow through it all and get a confirmation screen expecting me down there at 9AM sharp. I certainly don't expect to get behind any wheel, but it would be just awesome to see/hear these cars in person. What does a 'guest' invitation imply and do you guys think it'll they'll let me appreciate such fine examples of German Engineering?
and is anyone in Central Florida attending?looking forward to it regardless >.>
They allowed people to push the car on the dyno from 0-60 and 0-100. My time 4.5 for 0-60 and 10.8 for 0-100. The AMG expert in the passenger seat controlled the gear shifter so when he put the car in drive, that is when you step on the gas. Kinda weird since I couldn't control it myself.
0-60 time was only in Sport mode
0-100 time was in Manual mode
When you sign up for it, they give your hourly slots. Does the event only last one hour per session?
The C63 was much better than I anticipated (and I had high expectations)! The sound is awesome -- people driving by would stop their cars and stare when the C63 pushed it on the dyno. Very loud under WOT - I wonder if the exhaust is the same in US as Europe (I find it hard to believe that the noise regulations in the EU would allow that much sound).
