Manual gear changes in break-in period?

Hello all. I'm about 100 miles into my 1000 mile initial break-in period. I understand to keep the RPMs under 4,500 and the speed under 80, with no full load.

However, with my prior M, I followed very similar instructions during the 1,200 mile break-in period, but I was told to make sure to run in each gear, so that all the gears got equal play (I had a 6MT).

I was also told to do a lot of engine braking, just as long as I kept the RPMs below 5,500 on the M--this was to help seal the rings, etc.

So for my fellow C63 owners, did you drive the first 1K miles in the manual mode and make sure to give all gears equal play and do a lot of engine braking (as long as you kept the RPMs under 4,500 and the top speed below 80 MPH with no full-throttle?)

I've got about 250km on mine now and I had a chat to my dealer yesterday who asked me 'have I driven it in manual mode yet?'

I said no, what about break-in, to which his response was 'as long as you don't drive using full gas and keep the rpm under 4500 on up and down changes there's no problem using manual mode’.

I did a little of everything with mine. Did not rev the enging over 5000 rpm till up wards of 800-1000 miles. I did use the manual trans mode in order to put a load on the engine from time to time to help with break in.

I went about it this way during my 800-1K miles break-in... about 10% "C" mode 60% "S" mode in and out of "S manual" 30% "M" varying speeds 0-120 MPH up-dwn shifting but Not past 5000 RPM's... The last 200 miles kinda went nuts with it but nothing above 6500 RPM's...

AMG C63
I made it to 850 miles before I started playing. its not recommended to
go to manual before 1000 miles
as it turns out I like shifting in Sport mode anyway
which you still cant do till 1000 miles.

At a Boy Nick. I still consider Reverse and Neutral a Manual Mode since you are in 'M" after all....LOL

Are you all set for Dallas??? Very Envious!!!

Later...going for another drive....in Manual!!

Hey Barry, i am indeed looking forward to dallas on tues, cant wait to get my hands on the other AMG models, will bring the camera and video cameras, sounds like you are making every excuse you can find to put on the miles on the monster, i have never been so co-operative to go grocery hunting for my wife. My wife claims that the C63 is the best thing to happen to our family, i havent objected once to do any sort of errands.LOL.
