Limited Slip Differential
Hello All,
I have a 2008 C63 AMG purchased last April. The car has an open differential as I understand one could not get the AMG PP that early in production. Does anyone know if or where I could purchase the Limited slip differential for the car? Does MB have an official parts website? Thanks Guys!!

I would just have my dealer order and install the part. Then you should also have the standard part warranty as well, no?

A question for clarification: Are the cars without the LSD sending over 400fp of torque to just one rear wheel? My first performance car thirty years ago came with a posi-trac rear end to distribute the power from the poncho 400 motor, I don't understand why it would be an option on the C63.

They use ESP to manage wheel spin if you do not have a LSD. It is not a one wheel wonder.

One Dealer's remarks on LSD installation where no performance package was originally ordered with the car. Can anyone comment on this???

Hi Michael,
I have received word from the Parts Manager. He states it cannot be done. The electronics system is calibrated for your model and would conflict with the transmission as well as other sensors and controllers. Even if you replaced all the computers, the car would have to be re-certified by Mercedes Benz, and they will not re-certify or issue the necessary computer codes for a vehicle alteration. Sorry but it cannot be done for these reasons. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any more questions or would like more details, I can be reached at ***-***-***
Good Luck!

Almost identical to my question above. One way to verify this would be by checking the EPC build sheets for cars with and without LSD from the factory.

Regarding TheBFD's post above (#14), the local dealer here (M-B of Buckhead) will deliver a new C63 with a Kleeman LSD installed (which I believe is a Quaife unit, but I am not sure); they have installed several and have not had any problems. I seriously doubt that Kleeman or Quaife would put out a product that would screw something up on the car.
