Is there no AMG faster???
Hey guys, I just got off the phone with my brother. He likes GM and I've always liked Mercedes. We got to arguing a bit and he brought up the new 09 Cadillac CTS-V. I informed him that the C63 was faster. Unfortunately I was wrong! The CTS-V matches the AMG's 3.9 to 60 but outruns the Benz in the quarter 12.0 @ 118 vs the 12.3 @ 116.
Is there no AMG sedan that can beat this Caddy!?

I think granpa jones golf cart is faster, it will do the 1/4 faster if he lost a titelist. Look I think the CTS-v has 560 hp? It took the motor off the ZR-1 AND its supercharged. ANY nimrod can get HP out of a motor with forced inductiion. Its not rocket science. It IS hard to get 500 hp out of a normally aspirated motor. Tell your brother when GMC gets 600Hp out of 6 liter motor to come talk to you. There is a big caveat though. You cant get a title for a Cadillac unless you're on Social Security. There are age limits and thats just the way our country is. You cant get a discount at Dennys or own a Cadillac unless youre 60 and thats the rules of a republic. At least MB doesnt put those restrictions on us.

All the lightly modded E55s easily defeats the CTS-V.

here is the other think.
c63 451hp detuned
cts-v 556hp detuned
both cars ARE detuned so if you bring both cars to max you could get
600hp out of the c63 and you could get more then 700hp from the cts-v.
but then 1 is natural and the other is supercharged.
bottom line JUST wait till the new M.benz motors come out.
ohh the 5.5 turbo. then will see who can talk about whats beter.

Car and Driver calls it 12.6 seconds at 116 MPH for the CTS-V versus 12.3 seconds at 116 MPH for the C63.
Road and Track calls it 12.2 seconds at 116 MPH for the CTS-V versus 12.5 seconds at 114 MPH for the C63.
The source of the "12.0" time seems to be some Cadillac engineers who were speaking off the record. The official Cadillac press release simply says "12 seconds." No ".0" after the "12."

And finally, the last area of the next Mercedes CLS that Car addressed was its range of engines, with the magazine noting that four variants – the CLS 320CDI BlueTEC, the CLS 350, the CLS 550 and the CLS 55 AMG – will be available, as will a variant featuring mild hybrid technology

I agree with the E55 statement, but modded cars are not counted.
And yes, the Cadillac numbers are claims made by GM. Hopefully they are wrong!

Mercedes
a stock sl65 can do 11's, actually a few stock e55's did 11's stock too... so those are faster than the cts-v.... it think that this car is just getting the hype that the gtr did, it was amazing on paper, but not on the real road....

1. the 65 bitrubo engine is the king of benz power and is a 1/4mile monster if you can get it to hook and at the right track
2. 65 AMG power level is = to stage 5 55k AMG power and higer!! stock
3. dont belive every magizine you read. you have all the info here just look at drag times and the owenrs (this is real world, not bench racing!)
4. 0-60 times dont count for crap, becase non of these cars can get these times on normal roads, unless you have some really good skills and great tires

I also believe the CTS-V will be quicker and faster than the C63. Don't knock GM because they got 556hp from forced induction. AMG got 469/493hp from their supercharged V8. GM got 505hp with their Z06's naturally aspirated V8 LS7 engine. Both Mercedes and GM demand respect...at least as far as their motors go.
