Everyone keep going about the fact that the 6.2 L engine on the C 63 being detuned to put out less power than the E and the rest of the higher classes. How true is that ? coz a friend of mine knows some german important someone at the dealership in my region, and he says that this is not true it's all for marketting reasons, and he's saying that for an owner of a CLS AMG, if you get my point.

On the other hand, if it was true, and it DOES put out less power, what can you do in terms of light tuning to make the engine put out it's actual potential ? coz it's obviously softwaring stuff.

Yes it's true Cs are detuned to make less power than other AMG 63s, MB doesn't want the pony outrunning the horse so to speak. The good news is after ECU/TCU tuning we can go far beyond what even the SL63 makes.

What we just ran last Sat with MHP v2 ECU/TCU, MHP CF Airboxes/Filters, MHP 180F T-stat, MHP Thermal Intake Gaskets, Mickey Thompson 265/40/18" DRs:

All modern cars are essentially "detuned" from the factory. The C63 specifically has a more conservative tune over its big brother counterparts, along with a more restrictive exhaust setup. In the past, however, with the 55K models, the differences in power outputs were purely marketing tactics.

I was told at the dealership that they all have the same engine as the CLK BS however, it was de-tuned and if I wanted to I could find someone who's really good and tune it to exactly the same as the CLK BS engine...

A real tuner can go far beyond even what a CLK BS or SL63 make.

Andy--kindly remind me again your policy on if the dealer flashes the ECU--how many times can it be sent back to you for reprogramming without any fee?

Answer: They desperately need some attention from a competent tuner to unleash their true potential.

LOL exactly. Most people won't need anything besides a quality ECU/TCU tune to be more than satisfied with the performance (driveline wise) of their C63s/63s/55s, etc. For the rest, regarding 63s, there's Stage 1.5, 2, 3, and 4.
