I've been looking for these fender flares ever since I picked up my 63, but Mercedes doesn't seem to have a part number to track it down. I found two non-OEM version on Ebay, one primered and one carbon fiber. Has anyone purchased or installed and how is the quality. Links below!

I'm just curious of what function (per MBZ) they have in the first place? Reduce spray by acting like a mud guard or is there an aerodynamic function?
Also, looks too easy for some a$$hole to rip them off.

I just installed them on my car, they look cool, I don't know if they serve any real purpose but cosmetics. I got them in primer and painted them myself, real easy just sand them a little before painting. the link below is the ebay seller I got them from, I offered him $90 and he jumped on it, I'd probably offer him less if I were you and keep going up until he accepts:
