Am I Tripping?

Where in the world is the oil dipstick on the US versions of the 2009 C63 AMG?? I think I read in the manual that there was no dipstick. Huh? How do I know if my oil level is low?

You check through the dash. There are instructions in your owners manual.

I doubt Ketch will have that page number memorized. Try the Index at the back of the manual and look under "checking engine oil" or something like that. If you look under "dipstick", you might see my picture there.

I have an 09 and my car has an oil dipstick. Did MB change this mid year? If so, then wouldn't it apply to all 6.3 cars? I hate when they do away with the oil dipstick cause I change my oil using a MityVac via the dipstick.

I think the table of contents or the index would be a good place to start.

In the rear left corner of the engine bay (behind the air box) is a red loop. That is your dipstick. But if you can't find it I hardly think you should be adjusting the oil level in your engine by yourself. $.02

How is that mityvac working for you? I'm thinking of getting something similar so I can do my own oil changes.

Do you have ramps or stands to change the oil filter?

Oil filter is on top of the motor. Look at the picture above your post and you will see at the front of the engine just to the right of the star (Drivers side of the star) you will see a black cap partially covered by the silver engine cover. That is your Fleece Oil Filter. Unscrew cap, take cartridge out replace and put new cap on. Done.

The Mityvac is great! Easiest oil change I've ever done. Just make sure you get the bigger version so it will hold all 8 quarts when removing the oil.

As mentioned in the previous reply, the filter is up top so there's no need to get under the car at all.

Doh! Alright, that's a fair slam. I'll take it:-) I have to say though, I only thought that there was no dipstick because my sales associate told me so. Then I read the manual and obviously I missed that part. Guess I was silly two times:-) Good thing my wife loves me anyway.

Thanks again to everyone for their colorful responses. I checked the oil and we are all good. Vroom, Vroom!!

Haha, all good man. For future reference, just assume that sales associates have no idea what they're talking about concerning technical stuff because they usually don't.

I have only met one salesman in my life that knew what the hell they were talking about.
