Alternate Tire Size Thread

I have read countless posts about tires. Brand, sizes, inflation, tread life, etc. I'm trying to decide on my next set of rears (3rd pair) and new fronts too. I found the following: Front Stock 225/40/18 =OD 25.1" Rear Stock 255/35/18=OD 25"

After 4k miles I had to replace the pzeros and opted for Faulkins 265/35/18=OD 25.4". Was able to get about 8k miles out of them and they did surprisingly well. I can push them a little longer since its dry season in FL..

This time I'm considering going for the 275/35/18 in the rear (I know it fits, Mthis, and Overbudget posted) however, concerned about the ESP issue from the other posts. Be it YAW sensors, etc I do not want the issue if/when I want to track the car or limp every time I want to rip around the on ramps. The obvious answer if going with wider rears is to widen the front also. 245/40/18=OD 25.6 and it would match the rear OD exactly. Speedo accuracy is 1 MPH diff at 60. If I see 60 on the dash I'm actually going 61.

Questions:
1. Is it confirmed the plus size F/R avoids the ESP issue?
2. Anyone try the Toyo Proxes T1R's??? PaulGT3 you mentioned you might?

Search has reviews on Mich PS 2's, Goodyear's, Mickey's, but nothing on Toyo's T1R's. Maybe this can become a tire review thread too...

Great idea. i'd be interested in hearing what people have to say too as i'll probably need new rears soon.

IMO, the C63 needs a 255 tire upfront and a at least a 275 tire out back. It will really help the car handle properly. I hope one of the tuners comes up with a set up like this.

ok here we go.

original set.
stock front tires. 235/40/18 is. 25.2"
stock rear tires. 255/35/18 is. 25.2" no problems
2nd set.
conti contact2 245/40/18 is. 25.7"
conti contac2 275/35/18 is. 25.4" no problems
3rd set.
conti contact2 245/40/18 is. 25.7
michey thompson d/r 265/40/18 is . 26.5 no problems

note: i never had my car go into limp mode, or have any ESP problems.

i think you should get the michey thompsons they are the best i would not get anything else anymore. the car grips some much that you cant spin when taking of and you get to feel the power this car has. good luck with whitch ever you choose.

Mthis how are the M/T's in the turns? How about high speed freeway? I know stright line you can not go wrong but wondering about side-to-side? How about rain? How many miles on yours? How are they holding up?

May I ask a very silly question... I 'have to' put on some comfort tires for the timing being. I have 255/30-19 on the rear (stock). Please don't ask me why!

For the rear, can I put 245/35-19? and would 245/40-19 be too much?
Front is 235/35-19 and I'm considering 225/40-19.

Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks folks.

Not sure what your driving style is, but since you have a C63 I'd guess it's on the aggressive side. IMO 245s in the back are way too narrow. (For that matter, the stock 255s were too narrow). I think you'd give up a lot of traction - maybe even to the point of being dangerous?

Thanks. But I really think 255/40-19 at the rear is too much. And I need that 40's until I settle in... Thanks yo~

or

235/45/19
255/40/19

note: you MPH will be off way off but you can do it.

M/T's

Are the M/T's the drag radials or the street radials. The M/T site doesn't list the C63 tire sizes under the drag radial section, only the street radials. I can't imagine the drag radials will hold the car on any kind of wet roads! Where do you order the M/T's from?

We have PZeros that are 245/35-19 and 285/30-19. Our wheels (Renntech) should be here soon.

This is what you have on order for your C63? Big tires, looking forward to see this. BTW what size are the Renntech wheels you have on order.
