I would have to agree that I call B/S on this Tim guy.

No other tuner has been as open as Andy when it comes to proving his results. He has REPEATEDLY called out other tuners to run against his cars. As far as I know, nobody accepted. He has posted videos and dynos of all his tunes. He is always the first one to post when it comes to questions/concerns, and even gives out his cell phone to anyone who wants to talk to him.

In a world of tuners and custom car shops where you as a customer constantly feel ripped off because of lack of transparency, Andy has done his best to show his process and results.

Based on this I have a hard time believing that Andy is pulling a fast one on all of us.

I am not sure about the "not pulling a fast one" but Andy has made some posts with clear explanations and some proof with dyno's, etc. to his defense. I have talked with him before myself, and he seems to be a good guy. However, I think he should have steered clear of the baiting and insulting posts. He is a business man, a tuner, and a sponsor here. Going to the gutter with some of the others certainly does muddy his message and business image. It puts potential customers on the fence, or to just avoid the tuners involved in the flame wars altogether.

That's the only problem I see until Tim puts up further proof to substantiate his claim.

I was told by Eveosport that they are presently testing this so called ECU/TCU "component"
with one of there newest flash. Evosport also stated that they don't feel it will make a difference in the TCU tune but are willing to give it a test and put these claims to bed. He also pointed out that he would Not say anything in regards to other Sponsor Tunes because its bad business (as we've seen first hand and it all makes total sense to me why other sponsors are tongue tied). This will play out more sooner then later... Good luck to all and safe driving!!!

Some facts

The ECU and TCU can be seperately programmed through the data port under the dash. TCU takes about 10-15minutes and the ECU takes about 20-25minutes. Whether the communication routes through the ECU, is a moot point. It may do that or the TCU may simply be a different address on the bus.

The TCU is located in the valve body. Here is a picture from the 7spd training.

Edit. I will also say that just the TCU tune can make a big difference in the butt dyno.

Thank Jon!

I guess this address the statement of just opening up a 7g and ONLY seeing solonoids.

Here's a novel idea: just reduce the price of the tuning to ~ $2500 (which is really where ALL reflashes should be) and EVERYBODY here will forget this ever happened.

See my previous post. I watched the process over their shoulders.

EDIT: If you mean that the ECU will reprogram the TCU once a new program is put in place in the ECU. I have no facts to state either way. However, I find that highly unlikely. I guess with a change to the ECU program, I imagine it is possible to change what the ECU is telling the TCU and result in different transmission behavior.

good info! can you take it a step further and explain how this procedure would apply when sending your ecu to a tuner?

I thought some of you guys might be interested in knowing that I am changing back to a Powerchip tune in my Black Series as we speak. There are many factors playing into my decision. That is all I can say on this matter at this time.

Now thats a joke! How funny is that! He has tuned the fastest vehicles to date including his own test vehicle to prove the tune. And as far as the TCU tuning this so called hacker shows a picture of a valve body with the solinoid pack ontop and says that is the TCU, now that is funny! Why don't you drop your laptop into a hot pan of oil and lets see how it works. Here pull out your valve body and send it to a tuner and have his tune it. Not going to happen!! The TCU processing is done within the ECU on some models and makes and he can tune it where other vendors cannot!! End of Story!! Close and delete this thread!!!!!

That is interesting. I thought you were very pleased with the MHP tune? Agree on what everyone said about Andy. He was always reachable. Can't wait to see/read what he has to say once he is off suspension. I just find it funny that he has been suspended so many times. Just seems like that one kid who always gets in trouble....even if he wasn't responsible in the first place!

God knows I'll never buy a MHP product now ... but on page 41 it says ...

•Software can be updated using SDS /
DAS (flashable)

Why can't someone create a TCU file and update thru obdII then?

They can, and I will sometime soon. But if you send me only your ECU, I cannot provide this service! And this is not an ad for ECU flashing work, I will not deal direct with anyone.
