Dude that car looks like my A$$, and your brake rotors are a PERFECT example of how crappy American sports cars cut corners for their low pricing...

I think it's a great looking car. If the price was $10k less, I think it would be a serious contender. At it's price point though, a C63 is just too tempting to pass up.

GM has to earn back their customer base. The CTS-V is a good step in the right direction; but they need to price it to sell to get the word out.

Blank rotors are superior to cross drilled ones if thats what you mean by cheaping out. Also those brakes are from the same company that supplies the AMG ones...BREMBO.

If cross drilled brakes are so good, why don't Formula 1 cars have them?

^^^ That's my thought too. Cross drilled rotors may look nice but solid or grooved rotors are better for performance. If they are the vented ones on the CTS-V which I think so, they are large diameter, what's so bad about them?
The only thing that's even better if they are 2 pc rotors or carbon like the ones on the ZR1, Enzo, etc..

You really can't compare either brake systems to an F1 race car. They use carbon rotor instead of steel/iron. The pad compounds are different too, they change rotors more often than pads. Although slotted tend to be better than drilled because on heavy track use, the drilled holes crack.

Apples to oranges.

I had R1 drilled/slotted rotors and i used them hard on my jeep srt8 for 26k miles. The drill holes need to be slightly dimpled around the hole edge in order to prevent cracks. I already em'd them as I'd love to get a set to put on my V.

Don't think he was really trying to do that! I think his post was more a challenge to the suggestion that a braking system not accompanied by drilled and/or slotted rotors has got to be a crappy, cheap and under-performing system. I think de-bunking that suggestion was the only purpose of the comparison. Nothing more. I agree with you though,... a full on comparison is "apples to oranges" and more than that, is silly!

A friend sent me this. A RenTECH tuned C63 gets murdered! But,... the RenTECH tune took the C into the 11's.

the stuff going on with nissan and the gtr in terms of warranty liabilities is disturbing. Not too mention that I think every time I look at the GTR i think it looks more and more hideous.

"murdered" is kinda strong. 11.84 v 11.94
Also the C63 got the jump and I thought GTRs were "un-stopable" from dig start to finish.
Both nice runs, but different classes of car..

I wouldn't considered that murdered they both did 11s rightbut it is considered a loss regardless but really surprised that C63 took off that great against the Tuned GTR That means a non tuned GTR would be a different scenerio.

Yeah you're right tyanger,... murder is kinda strong. Actually, a C63 losing IS NOT why I posted the clip over here. That a C is doing 11's with a RenTECH tune is what caught our eyes. It wouldn't have mattered if the C has lost to a rocket dragster.

I noticed the first 60 too. For some reason, I thought the GTR was AWD.

The reason why the GTR is so tame from a stop is because its soo "nannied" from a standstill as not to bust open the transmission from a heavy launch. No other way around it really since its not a real manual transmission....Lol maybe thats why they made it an auto-dual clutch - so people couldnt dump it at 4k on their own accord.

Yes very nice, except for the "FAKE" carbon fiber. Sorry for as nice as the interior is, they could have at least installed real CF, aluminum or ???

Where is this fake carbon fiber you speak of? What is with the bashing of other people's car, does it make your ego betterand improve your self esteem?

I’m def getting a RennTech tune, I’ve done some serious research and I'm liking their brand the best at the moment...

I love how ERICPD can say "A RenTECH tuned C63 gets murdered!" by a GT-R basically bashing the C63 because he needs to justify and make himself feel better for the crappy *** car he just purchased.. Besides that point what do you think a GT-R would do to you Caddy??

haha I bet the caddy would smoke it I bet your cars probably running 10 secs huh...

Why do you still post here, post you nonsense else where...

That RennTech C63 def got some *****, I gotta get me that upgrade asap...

Maybe if the Renntech guy got some lighter 18inch wheels he would have beat the GTR. Those chromed wheels look awfully heavy if he cares about performance.

Who's bashing? You need to relax. If saying the interior is nice except for the fake cf is bashing. Wow you are sensitive. The fake carbon I speak of, are the 2 strips on both sides of the shifter boot.

Hey yo dude,... see post #293. In the post I acknowledged that "murdered" was not a good word choice. I also explained that I posted the clip here because it featured a RenTECH tuned C63 doing 11's. I also established that what it ran against wasn't the least bit important to me. And that a fellow car enthusiast friend who knows that up until I bought the Caddy, I live and breath AMG's, AND,... I use to talk about RenTECH frequently when the C32 was my one and only, thought I'd be interested. So he sent it to me. Knowing the guys in here also live and breath AMG, I similarly thought there'd be an interest here as well.

Just because I bought the Caddy DaGS, doesn't mean I am all of a sudden numb to the prowess of AMG. Remember,... I still own one. A C32, that's a thumper and can still eat most cars on the road, especially in a straight line (Q-LSD and a pulley kit). I'd bet 2 mortgage payments my she'd eat a 4.0L M3 in a straight line.

Lighten up man,... so what, I have dual citizenship. So I will continue to post here when I think I have something positive to contribute,... unlike you. The complete RenTECH this C is endowed with is suppose to be their recently released system I understand. That's why I posted it. And once again,... the GT-R could have been anything else with wheels. That the C63 lost to a GT-R does not even reach back-story levels,... completely incidental. I wanted the guys to see a C doin' 11's with the new RenTECH setup and tune! Period.

Moving on,...
