Best 19" tires - money no object

What are the best performing 19" summer tires for C63s, regardless of price and wear? If all tires were the same cost and wore at the same rate (or price and wear rate were not a factor), would Nittos still be so highly recommended, or would P Zeros, Michelins or others be preferred? This is for a summer tire that can handle wet and dry applications on a C63.

500 tread wear.................the man's not driving a Hyundai, he wants some stick!!!

I had to drop down to 18's to get the nice sticky(and great cornering) tires I wanted. I run Nitto 555R2's and love them.

This question was a no brainer.

The answer is ALWAYS PS2's.

The bigger question is, are you willing to pay approx. $300-400 per tire, and live with the fact that the tires will not exceed 17,000 miles on normal use?

yeah get summer tires. Softer compound tires found in summer tires and slicks will give you more grip. Harder compound tires will give you less grip but more tread life.

LOL...these tires are made for 150+ driving. You have to actually have some of them to see for yourself, I do think Michelin knows it's stuff. I have been running A/S Pilots for years. Awesome handling, and just recently got the Michelin Pilot A/S Plus.

BTW- They are listed on that thread as being #2 for Ultra High Performance All Season FWIW.

summer tires will still perform a lot better then all seasons. if you dont live in a area with heavy rain or snow...you dont need all seasons. A well designed summer tire can handle dry and wet.

As a few others have stated, the Pzero Corsas or any of a number of other R compound tires will give you the stick you want. (Toyo R888, Pilot Sport Cup, Toyo RA-1, etc.) Just don't expect more than 4-5K miles out of a set and be prepared to heat them up to get the best results.

Exactly, the Corsas have, I would say, 15% more total grip then the PS2. But they DO take prob 50% longer to get up to temp than the PS2. If you are doing daily driving with a fair amount of traffic.....you most likely will not get the Corsa up to temp (very annoying). Thats why I replaced mine with the PS2 and have loved them. I won't coment on wet performance but they do a fine job as long as you take it easy on the throttle
The Corsas lasted me one track day. I think I could get prob 5-10 easy track days from the PS2's. The only minor and I mean very minor thing with the PS2 is that it does not have AS MUCH initial turn in response as the Corsa. But, it's really such a small difference I think you could only realize it with a car that has a very good suspension setup (read near track setup).
