Music Register - COMAND
i.e. transfer a song from the folder "Jazz" to the folder "Blues"...
is there any way to do that or when you transfer a song to the register, it cannot be moved from the original folder?
Thanks!
You can select the tracks you want to transfer you don't have to do the entire CD. I haven't transferred between folders yet.
load a CD. It can be a MP3 CD. If possible, divide the song genres/albuns or whatever into folders inside the MP3 CD when burning. Those divisions will be the divisions in the music register.
go to the "muisc register" in the COMAND menu.
on the bottom left corner of the screen (if i recall) there's a "music register" menu. There you'll find an option to "copy music files". Choose that.
COMAND will open a screen where you can choose the music folders that you want to copy to the register. It is only possible - as far as I know - to copy entire folders. Check the folders you want to copy and then choose "continue".
There. It will begin to copy. DO NOT turn off the car or the COMAND or it will interrupt the copy process.
You can change the song names and folder names and delete individual songs. But, as far as I know, you cannot move a song from one folder to another once in the register. You cannot add more songs to an already created folder too. You can create sub-folders, at most. (like: ROOT/ROCK/AUDIOSLAVE and ROOT/ROCK/ACDC).
That's it... i guess.

As for storing the music onto the Music Register (hard drive), it's so simple I'm surprised you guys are having problems with it.
1. Insert music CD
2. CD will start playing automatically
3. Hit the "Rec" button on the screen using the COMAND knob
4. Choose the tracks you wish to record ("All tracks" is chosen by default)
5. Hit "Continue"
6. Hit "Destination Folder" button
7. Choose an existing folder or create a new one (name it)
8. Hit "Start"
Voila! That's all there is to it!
