Good price for 2009 C63 AMG?

I'm in the market for a new 2009 C63 AMG and are wondering, given current market conditions, what would be a good price to target for negotiations. My local MB dealer has two on the lot for roughly 68k and has already told me he'd be willing to go down to the 64-65k range, would it be realistic to get much lower? I was hoping to negotiate down to 62k, is this unrealistic? Any feedback would be appreciated. By the way I live in San Diego. Thanks.

If you're buying off the lot, shoot for $5,500-$6,500 off MSRP for a 2009-2 model. More for a 2009-1 model.

Thanks. Why is there a difference for the 2009-2 and 2009-1 models? How do I tell the difference? Whatever happened to all the talk about the new side mirrors on the 2009 model, did they arrive here in the US or are the mirrors still the same as the '08s?

When getting quotes from your local dealers, the first thing you should ask for is a copy of each car's NetStar report (MBUSA's internal inventory system). This will give you a list of all of the car's options and the MSRP. Additionally, this will provide the build "batch" (2009-2). You can also ask for the actual build date of the car and the port of entry location (this won't be in the NetStar printout).

As far as I know, the only difference between the 2009-1 and 2009-2 models is the -2 ones were built a few months later. So you should be able to get another couple of hundred off on a 2009-1 model since it's been around the block a few times.

It's rumored that the 2009-3 cars will have the newer mirrors as well as a Parktronic option, but no one can confirm this. You'll also pay a bit more for a newer model so how much are those options worth to you...

In the end, it's an amazing car either way. MBUSA should just be ashamed for d*cking their U.S. customers over on the option packages. It's one thing to make them expensive, but at least offer them!

I thought at this point in time, the sales person will automatically give PDI off and then you start asking for discount?

Is it still a common thing for people to pay PDI nowadays?

OSUBEAVER,
Consider this. Dealers are making 9% at full MSRP. Buying the car you are talking about for $62k is basically buying it at cost. Our economy isn't nearly as bad as yours, so things are different up here.

If someone asked me for $2800 off a C63, he'd be a very good negotiator.
IMO, that is a very good discount for one of these.

Since they came out in June of 08, we haven't knocked a penny off a C63 and we've never had one land into our inventory that wasn't pre-sold. I sold one to my brother and he paid MSRP...he also claims the car changed his life. He's got that perma-grin that all AMG owners have.

...but, like i said, your economy is a lot rougher than ours.

My best advice...it sounds like you're already getting a pretty good deal. Ask for more and see what happens. Regardless, the C63 is one of the most fun cars on the planet to drive. You won't be disappointed.

Ask for PDI off! It takes them like 4 hours to PDI the car, its almost all profit for them.

I was looking at one yesterday 09 CPO w/ 78xx miles on it. What do you think would be a good price? Sticker was $64k, I think had all the goodies, P2+ipod+multi

I roughly asked what the best price he can do he said he can go $57k.

You think I should negotiate lower to like $55K or under?

Thoughts?

At that sticker price, I think the dealer is taking advantage of you at $57k with close to 8,000 miles on it.

I would shoot for below $54,000 in this market. Personally, I think under $52,000 is fair.

Even if the car is CPO?

CPO = 4 yrs or 50,000 mi + 1 yr extra or 100,000 mi so does this essentially mean 5 yrs or 100,000 mi warranty?

I'm coming from a BMW so I never had to worry about maintenance on my vehicle.

What's the cost of an oil change, brakes, rotors for the guys that had already went in for these types of maintenance?

Thanks in adavance for the help and insight!

Yes, I think under $52k is fair even with a CPO. I believe (but may be incorrect) that the CPO warranty gives you a 5-year or up to 100,000 mile warranty (whichever comes first) -- from the day it was purchased new.

Thank you all for the advice and help. On March 30th I purchased a brand new 2009 C63 AMG with 9 miles at invoice; it is fully loaded minus the performance package. The C63 is white and tan, absolutely beautiful. Absolutely love it! It is everything I've read and more! I'll post pics when I return from my current business trip.
