Anyone drive theirs thoughout the winter?

I have an Audi S4 that is ready to be upgraded and the C63 is my first choice, but I'm in Calgary and the winters can be long. My question is with a great set of snow tires can a C63 still be a daily driver?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

With proper snow tires, the C63 handled this past winter with aplomb. Basically, in the snow, it was as good as any other rear-wheel-drive car I've ever had (the only proviso being that you keep it in Comfort mode), but on icy roads, it was a bit more difficult.

I'm keeping my S4 though, at least until I can really find something suitable to replace it with.

I drove all winter long. Loved every second of it.. as long as you don't have to deal with black ice, everything is good.

I drive throughout the winter w/ snow tires & different rims. No problems unless I hit ice.

I weighed my car the other day at a truck stop, and the number was 1,970 kg, which means it's actually 1.97 (metric) tonnes of fun!

I drove all winter long (nyc area). No problem road wise in / near city limits as they're very good with salting.
Parked the car at my friends out in Conn for a week, layers of snow/ice/snow/ice, etc... car wouldn't move an inch with snow tires .. had to call a toll truck.

As much as I love the car, I wouldn't get one if I live in Calg.... just imagine the car getting stuck when u need it most, ie...in an emergency.

Winter

Don't drive mine in snow on purpose but by accident or circumstance, I got caught in snow 2-6 inches each time, on three occasions this past winter with well worn summer tread tires. That was NOT fun. Without ESP would have been impossible.

C63 in a Calgary winter no thanks. Im in Edmonton and was going to do this car all year round and said *** it. I kept my truck for the winter.

Its not the tires its how low the car is. We get some intense snow storms and it will turn into a snow plow soon enough.

We had snow falls every week from Dec 1st til mid March. Tons of snow this year. My driveway had 10' snow banks. I was never stuck once. Came close when there was 15" of fresh snow on our street. I was one of only a few cars that actually made it out that day (Yeah LSD and Sottozero snows). MB does put all their line up through VERY extensive Winter and Arctic testing before they we get them. Only regret was the salt on the drivers side carpet. $40 at my detailers and all gone.

Love the C63 in Winter. A Cayenne would be better but only room for 2 in the garage....

2 Questions.. Who does your detailing if you don't mind me asking.. I am only asking because of suffering from the same Salt on Carpet issue.

and the second question is, what is your other vehicle in the parking for two?

I have used Autobahn at Dufferin and Finch for years. Frank is the owner and Alex is the head detailer. Can't go wrong.

Barry, give her the C63 and then you can get the new E63! It looks sweet!
