I replaced the OEM Pirellis after about 5300 miles. I went with the Goodyear Eagle All Seasons and replaced all 4. I was able to sell my two front Pirellis on Craigslist for $100.
I paid about $750 for all 4 tires. I went to tirerack, printed out their pricing for the Eagles and then took that info to Discount. Discount will honor tirerack pricing and so will Sears. I went with Discount though just because I felt like they would do a better job than Sears. I believe they charged me $15.00 per tire install.

How can you guys pay all that money for a vehicle and then have to go buy tires after 5,000 miles? I would be pissed and I am surprise no one has considered a class action suit against MB for this issue. Seems like all C63 owners have the same issue.

LMAO
Obviously you never driven a high powered car for more then a week.
The issue is a heavy foot son.
I got the Kumho SPT and they are at the wear bars with 2500KM on the gauge. 1 Rolling medium sized burn out and 2 donuts with drifting every second corner will do that to a set of tires.
The front are still mintish though.

There are many factors in quick tire wear. Obviously the power on the AMG plays a factor. If I wanted something where the tire would last longer, I can get more mpg then maybe I would've bought a C350 or waited for the new E class. Point is we bought these cars knowing what the downfall is. On the other hand if we can afford this car we can afford the tires and the gas prices that goes with it.

Some people buy a 451hp car and roll on D (drive) without touching the accelerator. Others prefer to keep their foot on the right pedal avoiding the left one.

Very happy with the tire. Mind you though, I don't race my AMG really at all. Rarely drive in Sport mode and I'm driving the car only on the weekends. No burnouts or anything like that for me.

I was not aware of the short tire life. It caught me totally by suprise.
I have had performance tires in the past that lasted 10-12 miles and I kinda expected that same life span from the PZero's. However I did not do any research and just assumed and you know what they say about assume
It all boiils down to grip vs life. In general, the more grip the less life and the more life the less grip. Different manufactures and compounds will have a slight variance but for the most part the generalization holds true.
So since I now know that I am only going to get 6k max out of the stock tires I went with stickier tires that have a slightly less life expectancy. I figure 1k here and there on wear is not that big a deal when we are talking 6k total and I would much rather have the grip.
I just put on Yokohama Advan A048's and love them so far. I am hoping to get close to the same life as the stock PZero's but time will tell.

Great tires for the price.... $915 incl. install and tax
Can not tell you about wear yet as I only have about 500 miles driven on them so far.
Very quiet tire at all speed ranges and seem to stick pretty well in warmer weather.... 90 degrees here yesterday.

Remember that performance cars normally put sticky tires on so that they can perform the best on a stock vs stock shoot out. The tires lasting over 4k miles is not really MBs concern it's making the best 0-60 times and 1/4 Mile times which leads to more Marketing hype which eventually makes people like us drool and buy the car.
It did work didnt it? You're here in this forum either as a c63 driver and or potential buyer.

C63 09' LSD traded for 2010 GT-R
Well I was suprised by the Pirelli's wearing out so quickly but at the same time I have never had good luck with Pirelli tires.
Switched to Toyo R1's on my car and can not feel much of a difference in heavy corners (Pirelli's still on the front) so dry cornering grip is similar.
If you want better wear and performance I always recommend the Michelin PS2's, they are a great all around tire that can handle track use.

well if anyone here is in the NY/NJ area and is in need of used stock pirellis, mine will be fore sale wen my wheels arrive.
I currently hav 475 miles on the car and am going through a very "weak" break-in, so tread will be close to full -
PM me as I have no use for them since Im mounting snows on the 18's. Do not make stupid offers, look up the list price at tire rack and work down from there. I will be very reasonable.

Dear Sir,
Please note, that MB does not warranty the life span of your tires as you control their life span with your right foot.
Have a nice day,

Tire report
I had the following tires ordered for the C63 and installed at the dealer today:
Pirelli PZero Nero M&S
Front 245/40/18
Rear 275/35/18
The rear tires rubbed really bad when going over any bumps on the road, the dealer is going to try some other tires/sizes to see what is the widest/longest wearing tire they can get on the car with out rubbing or TPMS issues.
Rear tires were gone at 4200 miles with no burnouts on them, dealer was suprised to see them wear that quickly they said AMGs that they see ususally are good for 10k miles on a set of rears. Mine is the 1st C63 that they have sold and serviced (2 others have sold after mine) so they are learning about issues like this as we go.

Dealer just called and advised that they are going to order me a new set of stock size tires but try Michelin rather then the Pirelli OEMs.
They can not return the Pirelli Nero M&S that do not fit correctly so they said that I can have those to sell on Craigslist/EBay; so I am getting 2 sets of tires for the price of one. I am not sure if the dealer is eating the cost of the 2nd set of tires or found a way to warranty them (I have the tire/rim warranty protection). If it is out of their pocket I will likely sell the tires and give the proceeds back to the dealer, it's not fair to them to have to eat $1.2k due to my screw-up.
Anyone want to buy some tires brand new tires?
