2001 CLK55
So - after spending 2 days with an Arctic White / Black P2/MM/AMG Leather - I am also strongly considering buying the C63.

On the plus side - I love the performance and handling. On the minus - it's just a tad on the small side for my needs (I have 3 kids). I did try the 2009 E-class (E350 and E63) - but just did not enjoy the handling as much. Also with the new 2010 E coming out very soon - I just cant reconcile getting the old model.

As far as the quality of the interior - the car I drove had the AMG Leather Seating Package and I think that made up for a lot! Nice Napa Leather all over - just like the old CLK55. That said - it would be nice to see a bit less plastic and perhaps some small changes - like the door locks. :-) It would also be nice to be able to get the beige two tone in the AMG Leather.

This would be my daily driver and I need to just need to get my head around buying another car that does not hold the whole family - but is great fun.. (we have CLK55, a 2 seater and a 4 seat Mini Cooper S Vert). This car would replace my beloved 2001 CLK55 and offers corrections to the few things I do not like about the CLK55..

1 - the CLK55 did not handle very well (sorry - I said it!)
2 - the CLK55 was also very tight in the back (granted it is a coupe - so we can cut it a bit of slack..)

All this said - I think now might not be the time to buy. The 2010 is about 2 months away and the 2009's are only selling at a small discount. My plan - wait 2 months and either get a bigger discount on the 2009 or move into a 2010.

Thoughts?

I like your plan and you'll be glad you got it.

As soon as I get this done (yeah,... right), I'm jumpin' on 10, make a right on 95, then come knockin' at your door! LOL! Just a friendly jab DaGS!
Again, stop posting nonsense that has nothing to do with anything on the thread... Also you really have gone to an all time low, even for yourself, after your pathetic attempt to get me banned by telling daddy (admin) on me for my language... LOL get a life dude...

Ugly Old Man Ride Indeed

Get used to it; he has done it on 100% of every thread he has ever posted on so far... And believe me he will continue his pathetic attempt to further validate his poor choice in a quality sports sedan

Anyway, another option after your upgrade is to head to the Pacific NW and come see me. I got a can of whoop *** and can't wait to open it!

Thanks for sharing the video though.
You're welcome. I think the OP already dropped his hammer on a M3,... we're just kinda chatting now. And if I ever get anywhere near the Pacific NW, I'll be sure to drop by and show you this,... how did you put it,... "ugly old man ride".

LOL! Wasn't me DaGS,... guess there's somebody else out there that just simply can't stand your antics. To be honest,... your behavior at times is kinda entertaining to me. I guess there are others who don't find you as funny as I do. At any rate, I'm glad they were unsuccessful,... I like pushing your buttons!

But how did you like the Hennessey clip? Didn't catch you take on it. Sweet wasn't it?

Yeah, that's right.

Hey, thanks for everybody's input. Picked up a good looking old man ride in the form of a new 2009 E63 today. The C is a really nice whip but I just needed a bigger box. Lots of trunk money on them now and dealers want them gone. 1.9% financing now, too.

My 993 is tiny little thing and I just need some cruising comfort for a DD, so what can I say.

The C is a great ride, no doubt. Handles hot for a Benz. And a better choice than a see 'em everywhere M3, imho. And that's coming from a former Bimmer owner.

You guys made a good choice with the C63. Thanks again for some good responses.

Just to clarify - there is no Trunk money on the C63, nor is there 1.9% financing. Only on the C300/C350..

Congrats. What color?

Better to get the 2009 than the 2010 - they really messed it up, in my opinion.

Really? Wow - they are offering 1.9% on the E63? What kind of trunk money do they have to play with?

I did not realize - in fact was told specifically that this did not apply to the E63 either. If it does - that may be an option for me..

Thank you

Thanks. Flint grey on black interior. And yeah, that's the number one reason I decided to pick up the 2009 before it got too late and then they're gone. W212 doesn't look too good to my design sensibilities.

Hard to find anything left now besides black or arctic. I've had too many white or black cars; wanted something different.

Second reason is I'm too nervous to buy the first year of any new model. I need to wait a year or two for the bugs to be exterminated.

Thank you
$6k money back to the dealer when financed thru MB Financial. The 1.9% is not on MB's website; and I saw the trunk money mentioned on Edmund's website.

And sure enough, they offered me 1.9%. And (after the usual b.s.) confirmed the $6k coming back to them when I told them it was so.....

Look for $12-13K and better off the $97k MSRP. Or, bark loudly for the whole $6k off invoice (and even more if you have the stamina) and keep reminding them they should be happy to move the car off the floor....

Congrats 220S. Nice ride,... and it ain't an old man ride. LOL! You will enjoy every moment with it. Never drove one, but spent a lot of time in the shotgun seat of one belonging to a family member. I think you will amazed at the power available to your right foot. If I'm not mistaken, the 6.2 in the E is a little hotter than the one on the C, which ought to compensate for the added weight. Seriously nice ride!

Get'em a Bus Pass! That's what I did for my kids the day I picked up my C32,... got them suckers a Bus Pass. Showed them how to hang it around their necks and where the Bus Stops were located. Kids and pets are about the same when talking about new cars like these! Yeah?

Oh,... sorry! Though you were talking about a pet when I first read "animal" LOL!
