Help! Best Car Wash in DC, Virginia, Maryland ....
Hey guys - are there any HAND washes in the DC, Virginia, Maryland area? I cannot find one and have looked everywhere. Seems like there are a lot of nice cars and no where to get a hand car was at a good price (ie $22 - 27). Anyone know of a great/popular place?

While I'd expect you'd pay a bit more, I'd recommend you get a referral to a good detailer in your area. Some even provide mobile services, so they may come to you instead of the other way around.

WOW, there are none! I had to re-develop my "Hand-Washing skills" every Sunday! It wasn't that bad, it just made me fall in love with my Z06!
I will ask around, I know there is 1 in DC and I believe 1 on LEE HWY???

Tyson's Corner - Rt. 7 , there is a hand wash professional car wash. My neighbor gets his S500 washed and detailed there.. no complaints..
I forgot the name, but if you are coming from 495 to Tysons > go onto route 7 pass the mall. Drive one mile or so, you can't miss it.
If you want a professiona detailer (clean, wax, interior, exterior, claybar, etc. ).. drop me a line. the person i know charges $300 and up.

I don't trust any of the detailers in this area. Wash it yourself if you are able too. There is a place called Details, Details, Details that you can check out in Rockville, MD.

Interesting - I went to school in DC and am considering moving back for a new consulting position - but I currently live in Chicago. Here, we have a ton of good hand car washes ... when I say hand car wash, I don't mean mobile detailing service or a shop that does detailing only. I'm talking about a car wash that is exclusively hand washing - 8 cars at a time, pull in, 25 minutes and $25 later - car is perfect.
When I was out in DC for school (driving a range rover sport SC at the time), I searched endlessly for something similar - there was none! Only crappy machine washes - (FYI Mr. Wash is not a hand car wash, its a 'brushless' machine wash). There were 2 places - one on wisconsin in Georgetown that costs $80 a wash, took 2 hours and handled two cars at a time (two guy operation). The other place was called NIA Auto Salon, located in the GWU parking garage in foggy bottom - they charged something similar and it took equally as long.
Here is my question - if there was a place as I had described above, where you could get a perfect hand car was, $25 (this undercuts even the machine wash places), 25 minutes - using all the best supplies - no swirl marks, etc - offering detailing services ... do you guys thing there is a market for this? Seems like a lot of great cars in the area, and no where to bring them for a quick, perfect wash!

I live in Arlington and this is where I go too...the only part that scares the cr@p out of me every time is when the high pressure tire washers pound on the car! ....for around $15 you get a good wash though....I always touch it up myself. The worst part about condo living is there is no place to wash your car yourself!

Interesting - you shouldn't have to touch up the car yourself after a wash though. The place I go currently in Chicago does a great job everytime - and you don't sit in the car while it is being washed. 2 guys are on your car, cleaning inside and out and the attention to detail is always on point.
I enjoy washing my car myself once in a while too - however, nice cars deserve good care and taking it through a machine wash or to a mediocure hand wash doesn't cut it in my book. $20 for a good was is fair in my book.
Seems like there is a market to open a high volume, hand car wash in the DC area, no?

Dr. Tint and detail in Frederick, MD does all my hand washes that I don't do.
www.tintanddetails.com
Prices start a $20.00 and go up from there. I always get the Utlimate Wash, $30.00 until they know you...then it get's discounted.

I second the do it yourself... Initial costs will be high, but overtime it will even out. I polish, buff, glaze, seal and wax my own cars. It's somewhat satisfying and relaxing, although can get a little crispy in summer, but a good popup tent.
