Dear, The owners who have blacked out grill
After a while my grill is completely damaged by rock chips from highway runs
I m wondering if there is a better way to do and acquire the matte black look without the rock chips
Thank you so much!
Ill post picture of mine later and you will wonder why i m complaining
1. Tons and tons of thick clear coat.
2. Transparent film to protect the paint.
3. Black vinyl wrap and rewrap as needed.

1. wash with warm soapy water
2. scuff it up with sand paper (300,400 then 6 or 800 grit)
3. wash with warm soapy water again -shake off & air dry
4. douse it with rubbing alcohol - shake off & air dry
5. tack rag it
6. spray with adhesion promoter (BULLDOG)
7. spray with black PLASTIDIP tool handle stuff (you can get it at any hardware shop)
...1st I removed the star in the middle of my grill & masked off the circle from both front & back of grill where the star is(hood latch pull spot) to maintain ''gloosy look" in there. After paint allowing paint to dry I used Black hightemp RTV silicone to get the star to stick back on.
...although Azn 300's looks REALLY, REALLY clean with the flat & gloss contrast -PROPS-
My grill is flat black with a chrome BENZstar - kinda old school ML look. Only on a W210.
-Sorry for the long winded, delayed response. Any how, that PLASTIDIP stuff is really durable (7 months and no issues) Its FLATblack though...hope that helps.
Your 2 tone has a really nice touch to it, good job.
The good thing about vinyl is that it is softer than paint and you don't get any rock chips. My hood is full of them but the grill is like new after one year.
Although I have it in gloss black, I think you can get matte black vinyl anywhere.
When the light turned Green, i went straight and some chinese women

abdullah - i took a look at the sites, but couldnt really navigate my way through the site, maybe ill take a look a lil later again
olszowa12 - you had yours wrapped, meaning you didn't do it yourself? either way i'd love to take a look
thanks
Vinyl really is the most practical solution. Doesn't chip as easily, when applied correctly, looks like like paint, and if something does happen to it, just tear the piece off and re-wrap.
anybody have any tips/tricks to applying vinyl? seeing as this will be my first time attempting it while requiring some sort of dexterity
