i took my C63 to the homestead track the other day and i was dissapointed i recently had my C63 chipped and put in some new carbon fiber air intake boxes installed by renntech and im pushing more then 500+ horsepower and i still mangaed to get a beating from a Ford Mustang??? i took off the ESP and was spinning too much does that mean i need bigger tires in the back ( wider ) or what could i do?

.
You are stabbing the throttle too hard on launch. Drag Radials wouldn't hurt either.

At least post up your times and slips that way we can see if you are really having issues, just saying you ran poorly because you were beat my a mustang does not mean you ran bad there is no telling what mods that car had. More details please.

Did this track have turns? If so, I'd be surprised you got beaten by a Mustang. If not, I'm not too surprised. You could build a track car to embarass the C63 for about 1/5th the cost.

Homestead is an 1/8 mile track I wouldn't worry so much about if you lost/won I'd rather just see what you ran and go from there. Plus they are not known for track prep since this is a speedway. Alot of Speedways are doing Friday night 1/8 races to promote taking it off the street racing. Texas Motor Speedway does this and I dont think they even use any VHT cause they are afraid it will mess up the racecars.

Sounds like your new to racing the 1/4.

Did you heat up the tires before you made your run? Temp? Weather conditions? Location? What did the Mustang have? Manual mode? Sport mode? What was your reaction time? 60'?

Post your time slip or just read off the results.

Drag radials will do wonders for the C63. You can get a 1.6 60' in the right weather conditions and experience lauching 500HP cars.

Keep at it you will do better.

id use sport/esp sport till you find your tire pressures, get launching the car down etc.. no real reason to not use the computer to help. especially on a 1/8 mile track.

im new to the tack with the C63 and i went down there it was at night and the weather was nice and not too humid i did heat up the tires the third time around i took like 4 runs and the last run i finally realized that i had the esp on sport mode so i took it off and when i lit the tires up to heat them up the car started moving to the side a little but im sure the tires were hot enough....but tha last run with the esp off they spun so much that on take off i had to let off the gas and then hit back on it....so i know i lost time there....

What about trying to launch with ESP on "Sport?" I would imagine that if you're getting too much wheel spin (especially with a tune), then you need to get better traction by having ESP do it's job, at least in Sport mode; or you could try feathering the gas, instead of just stomping on it...1st gear is just crazy, even on a stock car!

Im not sure on this since im new to the C63. Do the ESP modes change shift points or shift harder? Or it all about traction and stability control?

IMO esp any mode screws up the launch of the car. Work on throttle control and get sticky tires.

No, the ESP does not changes shift points; only traction and stability control. However, in "Sport" mode, the threshold for traction control intervention is higher than when in the default "on." This allows for some wheel spin, but not as much if ESP is "off." In ESP "off," all traction and stability control are completely off, and thus, there is more wheel spin.

Thought so. Thanks for clearing it up.

Just because a mustang beat you doesn't mean that you're slow. Post up your time and let us be the judge.

x2 my buddy has a Mustank Cobra that runs 9.5x in the 1/4 mile and throws down 814rwhp all while being street legal. There's always someone faster than you no matter what car you drive.

Then there are the bikes. A little Hayabusa will trip the lights before most cars make the 1/8 mark.
