After my car was parked in the garage several hours I heard a beeping sound when getting something out of the trunk. Tracked it to somewhere in the engine compartment?? A soft beep coming about 10 seconds apart. So soft that I could not figure out where under the hood the sound was coming from.

I started the car and then turned it off, and did not hear it any more. (Clearly not a bomb.) Any ideas on what it could have been?

 

Glad you asked the question. I heard the same noise near the ABS unit.

never heard this with mine... not yet at least.

 

My E class made the same noise on at least three occassions. Couldn't figure it out either.

 

I have had this happen..when the car is off and sitting..you hear a faint "bzzzzzzt" "bzzzzzzt"

not sure what it is..but my car works..for now.

 

guys relax, this is just the sound you hear when the steroids are injected. Typical hypothermic needle pressure release

Happened to me tonight. In fact, it is merrily beeping away in the garage as I type this...the weird thing is that the sound seemed to move, away from me around as I opened door and the hood to try to determine the source...must be coming from under the car somewhere.

 

ive heard this also...i also hear it when i put the key into the ignition and turn it to position #2 before i start it up

It seems like it's a regular thing cuz everyone seems to get it. I never realized it on mine since I just walk away when I walk out of my car

No Lojack, but still beeping 24 hours later...going in to the dealer tomorrow.

 

Did it beep after you started and turned off the engine? What's the latest, was the dealer able to diagnose? My beeping was a one time experience.

 

Amazingly, I got to the dealer (a 68 mile trip one way) and the beeping was gone on shutoff. The GM and I were standing by the car and it was dead silent. I started it up, drove down the lot and shut the car off, still no beeping. So I drove home, shut if off, and then...IT STARTED BEEPING. It's now beeping in the garage hours later.

 

I could never pin point the location. I assumed it was coming from the engine compartment or at least the front end of the car but...........

 

My body does the same thing when I'm sick and go to the doctor. My symptons or problems vanish when I get there.

Could it be a smoke detector battery alarm. your garage door unit or something else in your garage or nearby, or maybe it's just a manic 63? Keep us posted.
