Anyone in Los Angeles area has resonators removed?

I'm slowly working on my C63. got the Kleeman ecu. was told by Brandon there 2 things:
1) dont put k&Ns, they'll mess up the MAS. Better to remove the carbon pre-filters
2) dont remove resonators/2nd cats: the car will be TOO loud. and u'll get a droning noise at cruising 75mph

I was wondering if anyone is in LA area had resonators removed so I can hear the car. I'm in tarzana.
much appreciated!!

Haven't removed my resonators and 2nd cats yet, however, I've never yet seen a vehicle messed up by K&Ns. Been using them for years and am trying the BMCs for the first time, especially since K&N has no endorsed filter for the 09 C63 AMG. I made the call last week to the K&N factory, blah, blah, blah, we have to run tests, etc.......not available for your vehicle yet........would think the 08 filters should fit, eh?

Droning noises at 75, how far are you commuting on your daily drive? Car is plenty quiet. Droning usually results from adding larger diameter pipe plumbing and becomes the new resonator through the floor of the car. Just stick with the same size piping in place of the resonator. We did exactly this to our other MB, an 03 stock C32 AMG, resulted in a nice change to the exhaust note, and definitely felt more responsiveness to throttle input. Took it out to the valley and had our favorite retired German mechanic give it a spin on the 118 and 405. Rock solid nice driving German machine.

Do you have a muffler shop?

I have to tell ya, before you mod your exhaust, your stock exhaust that is, and I am assuming to change the exhaust note somewhat, you might entertain going with the filter, ECU tune, and pulley mods. Yes, they are more expensive than a quick exhaust mod, however, they definitely change the sound of the stock exhaust. You want to hook up over the next couple of days, you can hear mine. PM me if so....have fun! The butt dyno guy..........

I wouldn't touch it if I did it again just for the fact I don't like cutting up stock parts, but it'd be nice to compare.
I would just do headers and/or 2ndary cats the first time around. PM me if you want to meet up.

No drone at all, cabin did get louder in the 1500-2200 RPM if I remember correctly it was practically quiet at stock.

Alright, do you think it woulddd add drone if I removed the 2nd cats or just be the same as stock from 1500-2200 RPM as you said with the REso

It also depends on what you use as a substitute for the Resonator, either X pipe or Straight pipes. The OEM resonator is "sort of" an OEM X pipe (the engineering concept is very similar).
I can also come out for the "sound check " with you guys.

I don't remember it being that crazy of a sound change. If anything it smoothed out the gurgling/throatiness a little and sounded more euro/smoothed out reving. After a couple hundred miles I did think it was maybe a tad louder (10%) and a little different character.

What's up with the drone preoccupation? Have you ever had a car with the drone syndrome? If not, you can get used to it. You can equate the drone with specific performance characteristics also. Just imagine what else you can do with the drone. You could even learn your rpm without having to look at the dash, just by hearing the drone tone. Try it, you might like it.

You can guess yourself blue in the face, but until you actually commit and followthrough, it's anyones guess. A lot of what you are going to interpret as drone is going to depend upon your ear, not everyone elses'.

Have fun and good luck.

Been running K&Ns for 12k miles now and still no errors or MAS problems whatsoever. Some people have reported up to 5hp gains with these filters.

FWIW, I had a BMC drop-in oiled air filter in my BMW 335i...they make great air filters, imho; I may have to check out the BMC air filters for my C63 AMG when it's time to replace my oem stock air filters.

bone stock E55 AMG
go ahead and put K&N filters on and delete resonator (it won't be that much louder)...
it's the 2nd cat delete with more significant sound increase...
