Tire Rub Issue

Just mounted these Dunlop Dirreza Z1's 265/35 and 245/40 on AMG wheels from a 2005 E55. I have 275/35 on the original wheels and have zero issues with tire rub. But this combination of tires and wheels which are supposed to be a track set rub slightly with 2 in the car and constantly with 4 people inside. Any thoughts?

1. roll your fenders
2. buy smaller tires
3. Ride by yourself

The offset don't work. You need a min 50rear to fit 265. And 275 on stock wheels works perfect with the 54 offset rear.+

to tell you the truth i dont think rolling the fenders will work. they look way to wide.(sticking out)

you lucky you live in FL, with does rims on a c63 in NY you will rub on every pot hole might even smash the front fender.

i think 285 is the most you can go on 18's of any rim. 19's there are problems with 285. the only thing i can think of that worked good for me was the nitto's 555r 285 on my stock rims.

if they dont work throw 265, mickeytoms and use them for track.

It is pretty clear that the wheels from the E55 are not the correct offset for a C63. If rolling the fenders does not solve the problem, you probably should change the wheels.

Good Luck!

Here are a few options, and how you can get close.

1. Don't roll but cut/shave the fenders, this will gain you approx. 10-12mm
2. Take the wheels to a CNC shop familiar with wheels, have them shave the backpad by 5mm (this is the most I would shave a back pad.

This will gain you approx. 15-17mm, I think it migh be just enough to clear.

Let me know if you have more questions on this or need help

it's an offset issue only. No need to modify anything, just buy a different set of wheels.

Not rubbing anymore........the Dunlops are now on the stock wheels and the fitment is great. Unfortunately the E55 wheel offset is designed to place the outer edge of the wheel at the fender well of an E class not a C which is why they protruded so much.

I put same tires and size on my stock wheels. No rubbing until I took to track. The track has a number of hard right turns with elevation change. When I got home, took wheels off and saw deep rub marks on lower back portion of wheel well cover. Thought it may be tire pressure. But tire never got above 44 psi.

Here they are, sorry for the delay but the car came back filthy from the track weekend and I wasn't about to take pics that way. The Dunlops performed incredibly well and on the oem wheels they fit fine with no rubbing. The cornering grip is very impressive, the rears would slide a little but with esp sport mode on there was no real drama and the car would simply align itself and hammer straight ahead. There were not any cars that I met in our group that could shake me in the corners and I had a great view of an S2000 1 car length in front of me do a 180 while I was still glued. Watching him eye to eye as he slid backwards off the track while my sled went by was priceless.
