Twin-Turbo Lexus IS-F

I don't have a C63 nor am I on this subforum often. After searching, I couldn't find any threads mentioning this car, so I figured I would post about it. If there already exists a thread about this, then moderators, please delete.

Links contain videos to a rear-mounted twin turbo kit on an ISF. Guy sounds kind of toolish, but i'm not posting about him, but about the car. Guy is apparently running about 5 psi.

Pretty sweet IMO. I actually like how it sounds and how it looks, though still not a fan of the weird looking exhaust tips. C63 looks better still overall. Anyone think about turboing the C63 yet? Maybe a rear-mounted system like this?

Food for thought:

IS-F compression: 11.8:1
C63 compression: 11.3:1

they do. it is on the ML63. i read about it a while back. one wouldnt need to go with brabus for a twin turbo setup. that would be ridiculously pricey. a custom setup is always possible by a competent shop i'm sure

Hahaha "how dope is that". Dude welcome to 2003.

Cool car, dumbass owner aside, but I guess he's just excited I cant blame him.

BTW wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overkill for 5PSI, I would love to hear the engineering thoughts behind this.

There is nothing readily available for the F at this point that is proven and reliable.

There have been a couple of one off set ups done to this point, but nobody really wants to blow up their engine for a few quick bursts.

The modability of the F is lacking. There is nothing comparable to a Kleeman or Renntech tune available. Apparently, at this point, the Lexus' ECU's are unbreakable.

MHP made an attempt that didn't come through in the end.

I had never heard of a rear turbo set-up, so the concept is interesting but not for me. I really didn't like the wheezing sound of the exhaust either.

They have been around a long, long time. Designed for cars that have literally no room in the engine bay for a turbo setup.

In this application it seems more for bling than anything. You cant tell me they couldnt have gotten the same results with one properly sized turbo.

Nice car. A lot of work and money. Very sweet and probably very fast...

The sound in my opinion sucks. To much whistle and whine. Sounds like a ballsy RC car. The Vette in the second video is way more my style of how a car should sound. The C63 sounds better also.

All that work to make it sound as muscular as the C63

Actually, my brother's 1992 E220 (German) had that feature

The car does look good with all the little visual upgrades he did to it, but for some reason, I still don't think the performance will be even close to the C63. If the C63 is gaining 100 whp with just tune and headers, he'll need to gain 150 whp from his setup just to keep up.

I think it is definitely unique. It is, I believe, the only truely "heavily modded' ISF (what that may mean for an ISF is up to) and should be quicker than a stocker C63. Would I take an ISF over a C63? no....

i only posted to show that people are starting to take this class (C63, E90/92 M30, IS-F) to a new level and perhaps it is time someone with a C63 to take it to a whole new level if i had a C63 and the money to do it, i would lol....i know, i know....easier said than done obviously

Jim (jrcart) have tried going twin turbo on his black series but was turned down by a lot of tuners. He has the money and patience to do it, but after speaking to the best in the industry, they just didn't think it was worth the hassle, expense, and most importantly, the reliability

Kleemann and Brabus tackled the project but decided to keep it only for the ML63, and even that, it is only on a custom-order basis (not a readyily available kit).

We need someone to take one for the team and build a 1000 hp 63 car..... oh wait, in the CLK section, that's already being done as we speak
